Not sure where to put this article but I thought I would share it with you;

Interesting information about water.....

We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like
this before.
-75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world
pop.)
-In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often
mistaken for hunger.
-Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
-One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the
dieters studied in a U-Washington study.
-Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
-Prelimianry research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could
significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
-A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble
with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a
printed page.
-Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%,
plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less
likely to develop bladder cancer.
-Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?
P.S.
CAN YOU ALL IMAGINE DRINKING THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF DRINKING WATER???? I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN A BATHROOM WHILE MY BLADDER WAS SCREAMING IN PAIN!!! http://www.ic-network.com/ubb/frown.gif

My bladder pain increases if I don't drink enough. I also become constipated.

I am also an ICer who definately needs her water. I drink at least 64 ounces a day....

for those of you have great frequency problems, you might try drinking the water in three "doses" during the day. And remember when the suggest 8 glasses of water a day, those are 8 ounce glasses.

My everyday glasses are 16 ounces, so I only need 4... http://www.ic-network.com/ubb/smile.gif

Good information!

I drink alot of water. I find that when my urine is less concentrated, it burns less and hurts my bladder alot less. Also, I find my bladder can hold alot more. I still have the same frequency - 20 times per day, Regardless of how much I drink. Drinking more just feels so much better.
take care,

I think drinking lots of water is very healthy, but I have trouble believing some of those statements. I'd like to see the research that backs it up. My bladder only holds about 50cc's, so for every 8oz. of water, that's as many as five trips to the bathroom. Many of us IC'ers are forced to cut back on fluid consumption whether we like it or not. I guess the theory would explain some of our fatigue and problems with weight control however. I've always felt like I have an extremely slow metabolism and I often crave food when I know I shouldn't be hungry. I'm beginning to get my IC symptoms under control, so I'm going to try drinking more water.
