I am Suppose to have this procedure done in 3 weeks and i was wondering if anyone knows how much this costs? I do have insurance but it will only pay for so much and have other medical bills to pay. THanks!!
From what I've seen on here posted before, the cost can vary widely from state to state, hospital to hospital. The best thing to do is to see the financial person at the hospital where you'll have it done & ask for an estimated cost based on previous patients. They'll tell you that of course you could have complications & it could cost more, but you have the right to an estimate.
I think the total charges for the cysto/hydro (doctor & hospital) for me were $11,000. I had to pay $1300 in copays. (I have a 20% copay of contract rate charges, after a $500 deductible. I had already met my deductible though, so if I had not, it would have been $1800). I spent most of the day at the hospital though because I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic they gave me, so I was there longer than planned. I live in the SF Bay Area, one of the most costly places to live in the country & everything is more expensive here.
Remember, when you get an estimate for the hospital, that the anesthesiologist often has his/her own billing, the blood tests prior to surgery also are billed separately, and the urologist usually has their own fee as well.
You're smart to be asking about this. I was quite startled when I got my bills....

I know the hospital bill was $4000 for mine when I had it in April but as Kadi said that was just the fee for the hospital. I know it was more for the dr and the anesthia but I don't remember how much.

Hi,
I have a hydro done every four months. I stay overnight in the hospital but it is considered outpatient. I pay 75.00 for the whole thing. Kelly

Mine was around $5,000.00 but my insurance knocked it down to around $400.00! I am still getting billed from the anistesiaologist (sp) and other fees. All together I think my total is under $800.00.
