Okay, I am going in for a laprascopy and a second hydro on January 15th. I am really nervous. My Gyno/Uro thinks I may have endo on top of the IC. I was diagnosed with the IC in 2006. My first Hydro helped my symptoms a lot. It's been almost 20 months since they returned. Although, to be honest it felt horrible aftward. I woke up in the RR in pain and felt I had to pee really bad. I am not sure if that is "Normal" or if that was because that URO didn't use a rescue afteward. I just know the first time I peed, there was blood. I don't want to go through that again. Has anyone had both of these procedures done?
Thanks a bunch...wish me luck!!

I have had both done but not at the same time. After my hydro I told them I was hurting and they gave me more pain meds. I bleed for about 24 hours when going to the bathroom but told me I would and that was normal.
I do have endo and have had a laproscopic twice. Here is my advice. Stay on top of your pain pills b/c the first time I thought I felt "great" I guess b/c of all the IV meds and thought I did not need them. The next day I was miserable. My lapr. they did not tell me that they would be filling my stomach w/ air so needless to say the worst part of it for me was the gas pains and I did not even know what the pain was from. You feel it in your shoulders too. So, the second time I was much more prepared. I took as much Gas-X as I could and stayed on my pain meds and did so much better. I stayed off my feet for 4-5 days. I think the laproscopic is more invasive and harder recvovery but having them done together will be nice to get it over with. Let me know if you have any more questions b/c I have a lot of experience w/ the laproscopic......
Oh and stool stofners b/c the pain pills constipated me and that makes the stomach pain so much worse...

Thanks, I will remember the gas X for sure. I will also remember to stay on my pain meds. I will go in on a Tuesday and be off the rest of the week from work. I think that sounds about right. I hear it can cause some shoulder pain from the gas. The hydro was not very good the last time, so I am hopeful the rescue afterward will make it "easier".
By the way, how was your scarring from the laprascopy?
Thanks.

It sounds like you will do great b/c you are getting informed on what is going to take place. I had mine done on Wed and stayed off until Monday so sounds like you have planned it well. The scarring is minimal. They actually shaved me and the incision was very low w/ just a few stiches and then I had one inside my belly button. She went in the same place both times so I can't even see them now.
Yes, you probably will have shoulder pain b/c that seems to be where the gas gets trapped. After a few days I would try just walking around the house to get some out that way ( I know too much info but I would have been so happy if someone would have shared all of this with me). I had another friend and she recovered a lot quicker than I did. I think it depends on how much work they have to do.
I also got very nausated after a few days so the second time they put medicine in my IV before the surgery and I did not have that effect. They also did that when I got the hydro.
Okay and I got very EMOTIONAL after 3-4 days so be prepared for that. It felt like a death and my gyno said messing w/ those hormones sometimes makes you very emotional. I was just so upset and down and couldn't explain why but if that happens to you know it will pass b/c it did!

Thank you again!! I will totally be prepared for the gas thing and the emotional thing. I have been feeling awful lately so I am hopeful the procedures will help things along. I know it can get worse before it can get better. I've had some really bad pelvic pain this past weekend. I went to the ER and got some pain relievers. They were really nice to me when I told them I had "IC"....I was suprised. But this is good, I thought to myself. Anyway, I noticed today I was bleeding a little. My period is not suppose to start for another week and I am on b/c pills. Nice....my hormones must be getting screwed up. But, it would explain the "flare" out of now where and the pelvic cramping. I still want to keep my 15th appointment ( even if I do get my period this week). I want to get moving forward ASAP and feeling better. Really my first Hydro, I didn't have a rescue or anything for almost a full year.
Thanks again for sharing your experience with me. It will totally help me when I am done. It's good to know you have this website to talk to others that are going through the same thing.
Have a wonderful day,
Jen
