Ok experienced IC folks... I've been in a flare for a year now (was in remission for two years before that!) But the last few months, what's even more distressing is that the pain now radiates down through my vaginal and perneal (sp?) area. It makes it terribly hard to walk and sit for long periods of time, and is actually the symptom that sent me on medical leave more than the bladder pain because it was so uncomfortable. Seriously, I can't get a grip on this pain.
Anyway.... help me figure out if it's IC nerves, PFD, or VV. How can you tell the difference? Here are some clues....
1. I do have PFD and am seeing a physical therapist. I feel like I have knots...honest to goodness muscle knots in the area that it hurts to sit. I've tried rubbing them out to no avail.
2. I was given lidocaine cream 3% for my vaginal area, and I tried it as an experiment the past couple of days, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
3. It seems to get worse when I'm retaining more from my IC.
3. Sometimes it's burning pain. But almost like those muscles are clentching on their own....like a tight fist.
4. None of my pain meds touch the pain! And honestly, I dont' really have pain meds I can use. Well, that's not exactly true, xanax and klonopin take the edge off, but tylenol, etc. - ha, ha ha. Not even a smidge. Vicodin does help, but, I can't take it because of retention, which then makes it worse.
Seriously, this pain is worse than the bladder pain and making life really uncomfortable and INCREDIBLY restricted. Any ideas? Life would be so much easier (even with the painful bladder) if I could get it under control.
Thanks in advance for your help!
-Robin
PS. for those folks who are going to tell me to see a doctor, I have a new uro/gyn that I'm currently seeing and he's doing a urodynamics on Monday and we're talking about interstim because I can't take any of the meds due to retention issues. But, please help me figure out this vaginal pain!!! I'm desperate.
