Hi~ It's me Evy!:help::help:

Well, My doctor did not tell me I could not take Ibuprofen and Aspirin w/ Elmiron. There was no information in my bottle....... and my pharmacist says I am the only person they have taking it and he didn't know until he did some research.

I have fibromyalgia...... and I can rarely get pain pills b/c I am bipolar and they think I will get addicted or whatever........

So, I called the uro this morning and talked to his nurse, and his nurse said that the doctor probably didn't know that Elmiron was a blood thinner!!!!!!!!!!!!:cussing: SO for four weeks I have been taking 6 ibuprofen a day with my Elmiron. She is supposed to talk to the doctor and call me back.

I don't even know if this doctor does instills for IC---------- I KNOW---- get a new doctor, but I am in a teeny town and I cannot drive much..... the other closest urologist is like an hour away.......... and no--- I have no friends who can take me that often for instills.

THey have not ran blood work on me yet........ She said I probably won't be able to take the Elmiron.

PLEASE HELP ME..... What do I do?

My whole body hurts as is......... and now I am told the Ibuprofen is out...... and I had to find it out on the internet........ and now they will probably take me ELmiron away.

I don't see him again until Jan. 31st.................

What are my options besides instills and ELmiron? or am I just going to have to hurt?:help::help:

Thank you---

a very sad

Your research is right. Elmiron can thin the blood.
But let me say this.. Being that I have IC I would not take Ibuprofen and Aspirin everyday. My opinion is that these two meds can do more harm to IC patients than good. I know if you go on and do more research on the boards you will find that they are very irritating to most IC patience.

Have you thought about asking for another form of pain relief, like Ultram. Another option also might be Lyrica, being that you have fibro. And some IC patience benefit from that also.
I would do this before giving up the Elmiron because the Elmiron has helped me alot with pain and frequency..

I can't even tolerate on ibuprofin tablet. I will have instant pain. Way too irritating. Ronda had some good advise.

I hope you can find something that will help you!

Huge hugs,
