One thing I think is important to recognize is that quite a few folks just can't get relief from a very bad flare. I have tried opiods, tricyclics, ultram, pyridium...the list goes on and on. The instillations made me worse, and the diet really didn't do much. I flare when I flare, and food can exacerbate, but not be the root cause for me.
You may need to visit a pain clinic, something I haven't done. Sometimes, when the pain is very bad, nothing will touch it. I have learned here that the earlier you catch the flare, the better. Sometimes, when I take four Tylenol with mild symptoms, I can be good to go almost all day. But, on bad days, I just have to ride it out. Some people have the kind of pain that would require a narcotic with breakthrough meds. This may be an option for you.
I appreciate the fact that folks say here most people will find relief, but think it's important to be understanding to the folks, who I believe are more than a few, who simply cannot get relief from the meds used in this disease.

Hi, I am so sorry you are in pain, I do know what a flare feels like and it is at times very hard to get relief. That can be so frustrating. Have you talked with your doctor about you not having any relief? When I flare, its very hard for me to get relief sometimes. I hope you start to feel better soon. A heating pad may help. And let your doc know the meds are not working for you. Good luck. :)

lanabana...I am so sorry that you are having so much pain. It is a very good idea to talk with your doctor about the amount of pain you are in. There are meds out there that can help you deal with it. You may need to find a combination of things to find relief.
I truly hope you begin to feel better very soon. :):):)
