felt sort of inspired to write a New Year's message and so I hope this will resonate with some of you.

First, I'd like to offer a huge thanks to our moderators who keep the board alive by responding to questions and encouraging the other sufferers out there. These guys make the board what it is and so I would like to toast them - CHEERS!!

Hopefully, many of you can look back over the 2007 year and see that you are better off now in some way than when this whole blasted thing started.

Second, I thought with the new year looming, I'd like to throw out some resolutions so that we can encourage each other into the coming year.

Here are my resolutions for 2008.

1) To maintain a positive attitude about my recovery and treatment. I need to remind myself that the internet is helpful, but sometimes we're reading "worst case scenarios" and also that as people get better and heal they tend to move off the board to other activities in life. It's easy to catastrophize, but remember, this is NOT A DEATH SENTENCE.

2) I will commit myself to the Dr. that seems to understand my condition and work with him or her in order to help find the best course of treatment for me. In other words, if a Dr. sucks, he's no longer the Doc for me.

3) I will commit to maintaining a healthy lifestyle through good diet and exercise. Some of the reasons I haven't made the progress I would have hoped is that I neglected healthy habits like diet, stretching, and consistent exercise. I was feeling much better when I was drinking more water and less soda, eating a nutrient rich diet and exercising on the tread mill. I need to return to the things that made me feel better.

4) I will practice relaxation, better stress management and relaxation techniques. This is important to our overall health.

5) There is waxing and waning in the healing process, so don't be surprised that even though I'm doing the right things, I may have flares or minor set-backs. I will not create an all-or-nothing thinking pattern because I know that a set-back is not permanent.

6) I will get adequate sleep. Rest is important to the healing process and staying up late doesn't aid in this process; however a consistent bedtime is not as fun but will make a difference.

7) Even if I don't have answers, I will try to be an encouragement to others and take an active role in providing encouragement.

8) **This is a little controversial; however, research shows that people who are in the healing process who practice spiritually enriching activities have more success when dealing with illness or other issues. I will make sure that my life is enhanced with activities that enrich me spiritually.

Hopefully some of these will resonate with you all. I wish you all the best for 2008 and hope that many of you find your way to healing and better overall health.

Cheers!!
