Boy, I"m not sure if withdrawl is what started early this morning or mixture of things. I alwasy take the vicoden at 8:00 pm but last night I noticed the "sub" doc only gave me enough for 10 days and that was 1 1/2 weeks ago! My Uro wasn't there and it can't be called in so the other doc filled it for me. With the snow and all wasn't sure if I would make it there this week and knew I wouldn't have enough to last until then so I took the darvacet last night instead of the vicoden. I woke up at around 4:00 am feeling really sick and weird! Shaking inside, sweats but not sweating, then it felt like my body was on fire and it started from my feet went up to my head. Is this withdrawl?

I have been through withdrawl and this is some of the first signs. Usually though if you have darvocet or any other pain med you will not go into full withdrawl. Trust me, you will know when that happens because very few people can handle it alone at home without medical help. The darvocet should get you through untill you can get your regular pain meds. Of course there is always the exception to the rule. Hope you get your meds worked out soon.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm feeling a little bit better now by 10:00 am. That sure is not fun at all. I always thought getting addicted to it meant that "I" couldn't go without it but it must mean my body can't. Will slowly work myself off of it. Thanks again.
Sure are a lot of cats here between us. ha

You AREN'T addicted, your body has a TOLERANCE!!!!!!! Addiction is using the meds for the wrong reasons...you took it for pain control and using it correctly. Tolerance and addiction will both lead to withdrawl, but don't call yourself addicted, because you're not!

Donna is right, vicoden can be called in. Unless your dr's office has some kind of policy against it, it is one of the few that can be called in. I actually told my dr's office that I was going to be out soon and they told me I could get the actual written script or I could call then when I was out and they would just call it in for me. I hope you start feeling better.

I think it may depend on where you live....I know that I can't have it called in and certain drugs (esp those that are narcotics) I have to be the one to pick them up at the pharmacy.....someone else can't pick them up for me....CRaZy and its a pain in the butt when you're not feeling OK.
I also see a nurse who now has on her outgoing voicemail message: "If you need a prescription, you must call the office and make an appointment. I can no longer call in prescriptions". Trying to get an Rx after getting extensive dental work was a pain....I got it.....but man alive!
But then again, Mass just passed a law, that by July 07 that EVERYONE must show they have health insurance....you have to have insurance definitely by Dec 07 or you get penalized come tax time....ugh....I've got my own personal views on that too...
I know here in NJ they can get called in with refills, but in other states they don't allow it.. hope you get it soon.. and I have to agree you are not addicted..those who need it for pain are not addicts.. :)

Vicoden is not a class drug that requires a script only, it can be called in.

Leslie and Donna are right, it can be called in. Hydrocodone is a schedule III narcotic designated federally by the DEA. So unless your doc individually won't call it in, legally it can.

 I can only tell you my experience...whether its legal or not...well who knows.
But to reiterate I'm only guessing.... it may be similar to the experiences where the pharmacists can dictate whether or not they'll give you a drug based on their moral beliefs. Legal or not...it happens. All I know its a pain in the butt...like I said when you feel like crap, the last thing I want to deal with is junping thru hoops, red tape and any other craziness. :::::sigh::::::: whatever.

Here is a link to the info from teh DEA that states what Babs said. It also shows what other scheduled meds need to be written or can be done orally. Maybe this will help you to Yvette so you don't have to run as much. That is insane. the schedule III & IV is half way down the page.

I have had my last 2 scripts for vicodne called in and my parents have picked it up on their way over to visit me.
Hey All!
Yvette is correct as are all of you. The Federal government makes that schedules and rules for narcotics, however states can enforce stricter guidelines is they so desire.
Hawaii is the same way as Mass. Vicodin has to have a written prescription and no refills can be called in or picked up without positive ID.
Weird huh?
B
P.S. I found a great Doc in Maui. He came right to the Four Season's hotel were I was staying, wrote the script and dropped it off to be filled.

Mine can't be called in either and it is not written with refills. Also has to be written by a doctor not a nurse. Uro wasn't there again Thursday. Was set up with him so one of the other doctors wrote another script but once again for only 7 days. I'm having my doubts I will ever get off of it. Still taking only the 2 a day with one darvacet but I get so shakey inside and weird feeling. Then I don't know if I was feeling sick from that or something else? Wish I could tell which symptom was from which part of my body. Would make things so much easier. :toilet:
In a way I think it is good that I am the only one who can pick up my pain med. I have family members who use the same pharmacy (have the same last names and an odd one at that) and I always worry they will say "Want to pick the meds up for her too?" They have asked me about picking up my family pills while I was there. Family member never asked me to do it. So it has its good points and bad points.
