Hello All,
My pain is mostly on the right side of my bladder. Does anyone else have pain on one side or the other? At times I have bloating , urgency, lower back pain, vaginal with external pain... but always pain on the right side. When I am in a bad flare, the more I move or walk the worse it gets. All I can do it become a couch potatoe with my heating pad on high! My medicines are Algonot, Neurontin, Librax and Pyridium Plus also Percoset.(Of course not all together or at once!) Nothing honestly helps enough or even at all sometimes.
I was in remission for apprx 2 years until 8 weeks ago. The curse is back. I am scheduled to see the uro in Feb. Since it's been 2 years since I have seen him, they can't get me in any sooner. I am praying for this pain to lift, if only a little, for the holidays.
My heart goes out to all of you in a flare or just begining this IC nightmare. Remission is possible, I was there once and pray all of us suffering will be pain free soon.

My history: IC after hysterectomy

Blessing to All,

Dear Flowerchild -

Sorry you are having such a bad time.

I noticed that you got your IC after a hysterectomy. Did you have your ovaries taken out too? How old are you? Are you on any HRT?

Flowerchild...Have you given your name to be put on a cancellation list just in case someone cancels their appointment before yours is scheduled?

Thanks guys for the reply and support!
I had a hysterectomy in 1998 but left the ovaries. In 2002 the ovaries were removed and the IC started. I was on several estrogen patches but they all caused severe skin reactions. I then started oral estradiol (little blue pill) and use estrace cream externally as needed. I am now 47. I do plan to call today and get on a cancellation list and beg for an earlier appt. This NC uro is the only one in the area that specializes in IC so he is swamped all the time.
I wish I could just take a qtip gobbed with neosporin and swab my bladder down! LOL!!! Seriously, I have spent more time crying than laughing this holiday but I remain hopeful that this will go in remission at some point. I've thought about going to a gyn and having my hormone levels checked too. I may need an adjustment which may make a difference. I know for me, with no ovaries it has been a very drying experience.
I wish ya'll (yes, I'm a southern bell) a very Merry Christmas and pain free New Year! I will miss eating all the goodies tomorrow.

I'm sorry your having such a rough time. There are still goodies that you can have. My mother used to make my favorite cookie that had sour cream and pecans in it but once I was diagnoised with IC she changed it to a similar cookie with cream cheese and almonds which are IC safe! You can still find things that you can have and enjoy. I almost bought some peppermint bark at the store last night because it had peppermint pieces and white chocolate and it looked so yummy.

"What does it feel like" definitions:

What my IC bladder feels like.....

A broken glass Christmas Ball is in there
A wad of tin foil in there
Like I have been "holding it"for days
Sand spurs from the beach are stuck in there
A volcano is erupting
A bag of hot coals
I'm pregnant with a porcupine
Like i just slammed my bladder in the car door

My bladder is becomming my brain because it is on my mind constantly!

I love you all!

Flowerchild,
I'm sorry. I was also in a two year remission and it was awesome. Unfortunately, mine came back with a vengence as well. I'm working on getting it under control again. I went into perimenopause just about the exact time I came out of remission so that might have something to do with it for me as well. We will get through this. Good luck on seeing your doc! Sounds like he's got a great reputation.
