My daughter is only 5 and she has been complaining that it hurts to pee and that sometimes she feels like she needs to pee and doesn't or that it all doesn't come out. I blamed it on her recent stomach virus, but she said the feeling like she needs to go happens all the time. I took her to the doctor yesterday and told them about my history and they took a urine sample. She did have an infection- she had blood and bacteria in her urine. They are sending her next week for an ultrasound of her kidneys and bladder. I sure hope she doesn't have my problems. Ever since she was a baby, she can't have any body wash or bublle bath because it irritates her.

Oh geesh, that poor little one!! I know this sounds weird, but I hope it's just a nasty UTI that some anti's can clear up pronto!! It's nice too though that they are willing to dig into it instead of just brushing it off etc.

I hope she feels better really really soon!!!!!!! ;)

I'm going to join Tracey in hoping it is an infection and nothing else.

Jen -

I really hope it's just a nasty infection as well - my daughter is 20 and going through the dx process - I can't imagine how difficult it would be if she was 5.

A couple of tips if she is prone to infections:

Good job on the no bubbles etc.:)
Showers are best
White Cotton Underwear
Lots of water

I really hope she feels better soon. Oh one last thought - you might want to give her some yogurt (they have really cool kid friendly ones) since she is on the antibiotic.

Let us know how she's doing - ok?

It's not unusual for little girls to get bladder infections. Hopefully that's what your daughter has and it will go away quickly.

Yes thank God they make yogurt in Dora the Explorer and Spongebob or she would never eat any:rolleyes: As it is, I have to cut her off after a while, if it were up to her she would eat yogurt all day.

I will post on here when we get the results from her U/S.

I can only imagine how scary this must be for you. I really do hope that it's just an infection and before you know it she will feeling back to her old self. :grouphug:

Thank you. She seems to have inherited my not-so-good-health. At 3, she was hospitalized for 3 nights for a Staph infection that only went away with 8 different IV a/b.
