And it's pretty much what I expected it to be. I've got Crohn's disease, and we knew that. The bad part is that I've got "chronic, acute inflammation" in my esophagus that is severe and apparently due to the hernia/acid combo. I have a followup appt with the gastro doc himself on Jan 16th and until then I'm to take the Zegerid 40mg 2x a day and see if that helps. Apparently I've got some other nasty cells in my small intestine but I've forgotten what they were called now....spryoketes? Have to go look it up in my trusty nursing books, and they are causing some problems as well apparently.

Followup colonosopy/EGD in **FIVE** years. THANK YOU LORD! LOL I can live with 5 years!

So, that's it, at least til January and the worst that will be will be a med change or adjustment.

Thanks for putting up with Nurse Weenie! :)

Sorry to hear about the Crohn's disease but I am so thankful that you don't have to have the testing for another 5 years. I know that is such a relief :)
And no you weren't Nurse Weenie!! I thought you did good for all you had been through :hi:
Have a great day!

Yay! No being violated (LOL) for 5 years! :) That's great to hear!! At least you knew about the Crohn's, not that it ever gets easier hearing it confirmed etc, but sounds like it's lying low for awhile, which is a good thing!

I am happy though too that you have a definite name for the troubles, and you are on the meds to help that nasty old inflammation in the esophagus go far far away!!!! Granted, again, no fun to hear you've got it - but on the bright side now you know what is going on and you can begin to defeat it! YAY!!!!

Sandy
I'm glad you know now and hope the medication helps you.
I'm having cysto, hydro and rimso the 19th. I've had bladder infection for 3 weeks, possible stones and some bleeding last night. It is so hard to try to work and have all this pain. I just hope he doesn't see anything else going on in my bladder Wednesday. I need to ask for stronger pain pills. DOes the MS Contin have codeine in them?

Sandy...As always, it is better to have a name for what ails you instead of the not knowing. I hope the meds work and you are able to return to your life of not feeling sick all the time.

I'm glad you now know what has been going on and glad to hear no more colonscopy for 5 yrs. They're awful. Because of my IBS and polyps I have to have one every 3 yrs.

Thanks everyone. I already knew I had Crohn's. I think that was dx'd in 1997 when I was in and out of the hospital with major attacks. TALK ABOUT PAIN! OMG! The Crohn's flare pain is the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. It feels like someone is sticking a knife in my side and the pain radiates through my entire abdomen. It's usually caused by inflammation and the doc thinks the prednisone I'm on has saved me from having another attack. At least it's good for something. Sure wish it would heal my esophagus!

It is good to know that I dont have colon cancer or anything like that. It's a big load off of my mind . I feel like I did when I was dx'd with IC...I know what I have isn't going to kill me, it just has to be managed and I need to alter my diet, AGAIN! I think that will wait til AFTER Christmas though.

Hugs, Sandy
