You know this is just really annoying and I bet 'normal' (non IC people) don't have this... I feel my bladder ALL THE TIME. No matter what I am doing it is there just burning or being there. I really get annoyed by that, like can't I just enjoy a peaceful time reading a book or doing anything without FEELING you little bladder, but no!
Just a vent... Feel free to join me in this vent!

I know what you mean. I almost always feel my bladder. I didn't really know what my bladder felt like until IC. It really is strange but I've just kinda gotten used to it I guess. At this point I would take feeling my bladder all the time if the pain would stop!

You know, I almost posted this exact same thing a couple of weeks ago. I am doing very well with the diet and my medications, but I'm still constantly aware of my bladder. I feel it all the time, like you said. It's like it's always tender, even when it's not actually hurting. Or transient little aches or pains - not enough to "count" as real pain, but little flashes here and there, keep occurring. Or I'm constantly "measuring" my bladder needs.
I wonder if it will ever stop being that way. Do people ever get healed enough that they're actually just "normal", and not feel their bladder all the time? It really does feel like my bladder is the center of my body, and, at times, my world.

I am always aware of my bladder. I've gotten so used to it that if that feeling suddenly went away it would feel strange.

Yes Trixie, that, exactly! I really wonder what NORMAL is. Currently super hard for me as I am potty training my 3 year old boy and trying to gauge what is a normal length of time to wait, can't figure that out. DH has to be a better normal for him!

It is odd that we can actually feel our bladders, isn't it. I do remember the time when I never thought about it unless it was full. When describing IC, I use that to explain what IC is like.

I know that feeling!!! I tried explaining it to my uro once. It's like that constant state of it being enraged and inflammed.

Even when it doesn't hurt, which is HARDLY NEVER for me I am always aware of it. To me it feels like a bowling ball sitting there. Like Donna said. If I didn't feel it it would be strange. Almost like after being pregnant for 9 months. Once Katie was born it took me a while to get used to NOT feeling pregnant anymore. The first few weeks after her birth it felt so weird not having that little girl in their kicking my lungs out all the time. I almost felt empty inside. I did have bad post partum though so maybe that contributed to some of the empty feeling. Okay got off subject there, as I always do, but I understand completely what you are talking about.

I never really took notice to my bladder before I got sick, other than the need to go. Now its like I feel my bladder 100% of the time. I can feel when its inflammed, i can feel it when i walk...im wondering if the hydro had something to do with my bladder feel larger than normal...he did say mine was quite large.:)

I know what you mean. You want peace and relaxation. I get irritable when I feel pain and I can't relax and enjoy my day. What has helped me with bad spasms is ditropan and vesicare. Together they seem to help. I hope you feel better.

I feel mine too when before I never even thought about my bladder unless it was time to really go pee! When you feel your bladder does it feel like you have to pee all the time too. Like a fullness? I feel like a slight burning and twinges of pelvic shooting pain and the need to pee is there even if I went. I hope there are some suggestions to help that feeling go away.

I told my Doctor 3 years ago that for some strange reason I was always aware of my bladder. I was not in any kind of pain but it seemed strange to me as it was new. I never felt my ear but it was there just the same. His answer: "You are growing older and often the bladder settles down and is not in the place it use to be." Two years later I'm in the hospital having a HYDRO. and watching every bite, on Elmiron and keep pain pills around just in case. Has anyone on here experienced the same thing? Just aware nothing else? Ziggy
