Ugggghhh, I'm so tired of being sick. I'm physically, emotionally and mentally drained. I have been in a bad state since August and after weeks and weeks of instills my urogyno has referred me to a pain clinic to manage my pain which is off the charts daily. So now to my question...I had a couple little bumps on my eyelid for a week or so. Last night while I slept (between 3:30am and 6am) the little bumps broke open and now seem like a cold sore on my eyelid right below my eyebrow. It hurts just like a cold sore on your mouth. It has hurt all day. I just feel so sick and tired. My boss called me in today because so didn't think I was going to go on FMLA but I did. She got the info from HR today. It's approved thru September 2008. She was not happy. There are only 4 surgery billers in our office and she let 2 take the next 3 weeks off so I wasn't planning on taking a whole bunch right off the bat but my body is just worn down.
thanks for listening,
Jill

It could herpes strain 1...those are the herpes that show up above the waist. If you touch a cold sore and rub your eye, you can get herpes on your eye. Same thing goes if you have a cold sore and give oral sex to someone, you can then give them genital herpes. It's a highly contageous virus and your best bet of getting it dx'd is when there's an oubtreak like that. They can do bloodwork but the only problem with that is if you have ever had a cold sore then you will have herpes antibodies in your blood anyway, so the test would come up positive even if you don't have herpes.
The doctor can culture the sore and see what it is.

It could be shingles. You can get shingles anywhere there are nerve pathways. Are they in a straight line?

There weren't a lot of the little bumps but they were right next to each other and now they are just one big open sore that crusts over like a cold sore. My throat is killing me, it's hard to swallow and my glands feel swollen. Maybe it's just some kind of a virus. I'll look up Shingles and see what I come up with and If it's worse tomorrow I'll get seen.
Thanks.

I hope it is not shingels but, if it is you will be ok. My boyfriend had a small out break of shingel when he was under alot of stress. It was only one spot kinda like yours. His was like five little sores in a row on the side of his stomach. He said it felt like he had been shot. It hurt for his shirt to touch it. But he kept on going. Guys are like that sometimes, too hard for there own good. He was lucky it did not get worse. Stress is hard on the body as we all know. How painful are the spots. Shingels hurts really bad. What ever it is I hope you feel better soon.

Be very careful with those blisters. If it is shingles, you definately don't want to get it in your eyes. My friend just recently had a horrible case of shingles in his hair, forehead and right beside his eye. It's the worst. He still has the after effects and pain in the nerves around his face. Make sure a Dr sees that right away. My mother had it so bad in her crotch area and down her legs she had to be hospitalized for a week with valium injections and it took months for her to get over it. I know several others who've had it so terribly bad. My husband and I both got shingle shots this past fall since I've had it before myself.

Judith is sooo right about shingles. My husband and I both got our shingles immunizations last fall.
