Has anyone had seizures and low sodium? I had a seizure resulting in a bad car wreck a few weeks ago. The culprit seems to be low sodium.

I have not been taking diuretics of any kind. All my meds and supplements have since been checked and approved by my doctor.

I have an appointment with an endocrinologist but was curious if anyone else had low sodium (as it is connected with renal disease).

Not sure if I posted this in the right forum but any information would be helpful. I've stopped driving until given the thumb's up from the doctor.

My job is being ok about working from home, but I can tell they are not thrilled. I hope this is resolved quickly and the cause is found.

Thanks in advance!

Are you drinking marshmallow root or cornsilk tea? Both are diuretics and could possibly strip your body of sodium.

I used to drink marshmallow tea, but gave it up a long time ago as it didn't seem to help. I've never tried dandelion root.

I carried my bag of supplements (turmeric, cat's claw, ginger, flaxseed oil, fish oil, msm, colace, etc) into the doctors office to make sure they weren't the culprits. He said they were all ok.

Do you know where I might find a complete list of supplements or drugs that have a diuretic effect?

Have you ever heard of IC'ers having this low sodium problem? I guess you have in relation to taking a lot of diuretics.

Thanks,
Carol

Usually diuretics make low potassium, rather than low sodium. And yes, I have heard of people having problems with low potassium.

Thanks. My potassium levels were fine. I saw that Neurontin can cause low sodium levels, but not anything on Lyrica.

I had never even heard of a sodium level before! I just wish I knew what caused it as I am terrified of it happening again.
