Hi all - I had cysto in 2001 and they found nothing. Would they of done a hydro at the same time? Is this standard practice? I ask as they found nothing but Im still having IC symptoms.

I would ask the Uro, but I live in a different country now, I called the hospitall where he worked but he has retired.

They uro at the time said this was all stress related, the symptoms come and go but they are more coming than going at the moment.

Im due for another cysto with a new uro, probably with Hydro after Christmas.

Thanks all.

If the cysto was done in the doctor's office and not a hospital; and if you did not have an anesthetic, it was probably a simple cysto and not a hydrodistention. If that is the case, the bladder can look completely normal and healthy.

Donna is right. There are two seperate procedures. The in office cysto is preformed usually in the uro's office and they do it while you are awake. It is uncomfortable but not unbearable and usually IC will not show up on the in office cysto.
A hydro/cysto is done in the hospital and you are put to sleep for it. This procedure is usually the one that will diagnois you with IC if you do in fact have it. You're not asleep for long but it is too painful to be awake for. I hope you get some answers when you have it don in Jan. :grouphug:
