My name is Tammy and I am almost 38 will be on Friday. I am married and have 4 beautiful children 19,18,16 and 10. I have been trying to figure out whats been wrong for 7+ years and finally after 3 urologists I have been diagnosed with IC. I had a bladder Distention and Biopsy last Monday, The urologist said I would feel better after two days I still feel bad and it has been eight days I feel like I have to go to the bathroom non stop and it burns bad when I go and I don't have an infection!!! Anybody else have problems after thier procedure? Any Ideas on good treatments I have an appointment on December 10th to discuss treatment options would appreciate any suggestions Thanks Tammy

Tammy -
My recovery was harder than my doctor indicated as well - hopefully you will feel better soon. Are you trying the diet? You will find the information in the patient handbook section of this site - your bladder will appreciate the milder food and drinks especially while it is healing from the distention. Drink lots of water - no sodas etc. and that will help as well.

:welcome:to the ICN. I'm sorry that you have been diagnoised with IC but glad you found us. I'm sorry you're having such a hard recovery. I think the dr's underestimate how long it will take you to feel better. The surgery scheduler at my uro's office told me I could go back to work the next day! I just about fell off my chair because in an office cysto had made me feel like crap for weeks so I knew the hydro would take longer than that to feel better. At about the one week more though I was pretty much back to pre-hydro symptoms except maybe a little bit more tired. Did your dr give you anything for pain afterwards? Pain meds or bladder meds like pyridium? If not I would call and ask for some to get you through until your follow up to make life more bareable for you.

Hi Tammy, my recovery from that was 3 weeks, I had spasms and burning, but I remember them giving me an antibiotic to prevent an infection after having that done, I had it done more then once and they gave me antibiotics each time, not sure if you are on any. But recovery is different for everyone, hope you start to feel better!

If you haven't been checked for infection, I suggest that as a first step. Infection doesn't always feel the same in an IC patient as it does for others.
Are you following an IC diet? That can also help in recovery.
Warm healing thoughts,
Donna
