I had those epidural injections done on Monday and felt extreme relief. Now, I dont know. My shoulders and neck are aching badly. My IBS has flared up. My right wrist is really, really killing me with numb and tingling sensations running through my hands and fingers. My right knee keeps jumping from under me and my freakin back is killing me!!!!! I think that in reducing some pain, it is causing me pain elsewhere. I feel good in my legs, thighs and hips, but my butt pain is coming back (legal asst., sitting on it all day). I dont know guys. We go through pain to reduce pain, but still endure more pain? I dont know anymore. I want to give up.

I've never had an epidural injection for IC related pain. How long is it supposed to last? I had a nerve block for my pudendal nerves a week ago. I noticed as it was wearing off those nerves where he did the block were really firing off and I had alot of stabbing and stinging pain when the nereves were waking back up so to speak. Maybe something similar is happening to you? I would def call the dr that did the procedure in the morning to ask if this is a normal side effect. I'm guessing if you're doing an epidural injection because it has to do with your spine when it wears off it could cause pain just about anywhere.
I hope you feel better soon :grouphug:

The injections were supposed to get rid of the fibromyalgia pain. It helped with the lower part of my body..or so I thought until my knee went out on me. My fingers and wrists have bothered me for years, but lately the pain is out of control. I am cold all the time. I think that this weather is going to break me down. My back is killing me where the injections were done. I think that I may have overdone it with feeling fine. I was really moving around a lot. I went to the mall, to the market. I was walking faster and running around like a nut. I hurt myself I think. I should have taken it slow. I guess I was so excited that I felt better. Now everything is crashing down around me.

I made an appointment with a hand specialists for Monday my wrist hurts so badly. I dont know what I am going to do if I have to stop working and disability takes so long. It isnt fair. I guess if this keeps up, I will have to eventually call my doctor. I just hope that if these injections wear off, a whole bunch of pain comes out of the blue and lays me out.

I think it would be a good idea to call your doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Please don't wait.

I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad. It's great you got an appointment with the hand specialist on Monday but since that is so far away I would still say call the dr who did the injections. Maybe this is normal but it's good to check. As I said, I know when my nerve block was wearing off those nerves hurt much more than they had before the nerve block.

I agree that you should talk to the doc who did the injection ASAP. It sounds as if it irritated nerves that shouldn't have been irritated. Better to be safe than sorry in a case like this. Please don't wait til Monday. Let us know how you make out.

Hugs, Sandy

Cartervj,

I posted a ? to you in the other post (fibro) when you stated you had this done but I guess you didnt see it. I asked you if you had a plain epidural block done (like they type they do when you have a baby) or a fluroscopic injection done - (the one that is guided through with xray) where they go through your tailbone opening into your spine?

I had the latter done and, while it did not work for me and caused me greater pain from the procedure - it does and can work on many patients that have it done. Did your doctor tell you that this is a series of injections or can be a series? Mine planned on doing no more than 6 (it was combination of cortisone and lidocaine along with something else I cant remember injected into my spinal column) to help numb it and deaden the nerve endings. I wish it had worked for me...but it didnt - but in the hospital where I had it done and in the room - there were 6 others that were in various stages of injections that it was working for!

Dont give up yet - definately call your doctor and talk with him/her - it may be that you just over did it - and these injections are not long term either, they do wear off, which is why they are a series usually - your doctor may be different however depending on your situation and what type of injection.
