As many of you read I didn't have my procedures done on this past Monday because I went into total pain med withdrawl. Long story....anyway, I talked to my pain mgmt doc today and he said he would talk to my gastro doctor and they would, together plan for a way to keep me comfortable from the time I enter the hospital til the time I leave. He doesn't want to give me anything else for just basically one day, so he said that he would tell them to give me 100mg Demerol/25 phenergan on arrival and the same thing before I left so it would ease the withdrawls I WILL Wake up with the morning of my procedure.

Everyone is in my corner with this now and I feel so much better about it. I was FINE the day OF the prep, it was the day AFTER when I was supposed to have the procedures that I woke up in the land of withdrawl h*ll!

So, I should be scheduled SOON, these people at my doctor's office are ****** at how I was treated and the scheduling woman was going to get me in there at 6 am to be the first patient of the day so there is a guarantee of NO Wait time for me....plus then the pain meds, etc.

So hopefully this will come to a happy conclusion very soon. I, of course, have to do the prep again, but it wasn't so bad with the pills and I could use the cleaning out again! LOL

So, my spirits are up and I'm yet again putting my faith in my doctor, his assistant, the nurse manager in the endoscopy unit at the hospital, and my pain doc. With all these people involved I think things will turn out fine.

So, wish me luck. I am still nauseated and had some vomiting the last couple days, but I think there at least is an end in sight!

Thanks to all of you who supported me through this....it's been rough, the whole thing, the vomiting, then the wait for the procedure for over 3 weeks, then withdrawl, then being treated badly by the hospital staff, then leaving without the procedures done! It really can't get any worse, so it HAS to get better!!! RIGHT?!?

sandy,

I am relieved to here you will be better cared for! The demerol should help immensely. I love that drug:) When I had my son, during my c-section the ob broke four of my ribs pushing on my chest. once the spinal wore off, I was crying in so much pain. Demerol was the ONLY thing that helped!

Good luck:pray:

Dearest Sandy,

This is WONDERFUL news!!!! :) I am SOOO happy that your horriffic story has had some happy news, and hopefully, it will now have a happy ending! :) However, I DO think you should call your Dr. NOW regarding the nausea/vomiting and get him to call you in some Phenegrin or Zofran for that for you to take now! That way, at least you will be able to keep your meds in your system and not throw up the meds you take BEFORE you get to the hospital, (obviously, your pain meds are of particular importance here!)

I had a colonoscopy last year, and of course, I had to drink the Go-Lightlly and take the laxatives/stool softners and iuse 2 enemas at home to clean me out as for the prep for the surgery. However, b/c I was throwing up some at home the night before, (drinking the Go-Lightly was making me sick), (and I DIDN'T think to call my surgeon and get or other Drs to get someone to r/x the Zofran or Phenegrin, just b/c I didn't want to "bother" one of Drs. :tsk:).

Anyway, because I had vomited up some of the Go-Lightly (and possibly some of the laxatives), I wasn't all the way cleaned out when I got to the hospital. (This is gross, but I will go ahead and post it here, just in case the same thing happens to you, or someone else! So you guys will know what to do, and also, so you won't worry!)

But, because I had kept down alot of the Go-Lightly and the laxatives, when I had my bowel movements, they were suppossed to be clear, (in order for the surgeon to be able to see to work in my colon for the colonoscopy.) The color could be "yellow-clear" or clear like water, but, it had to be clear, so he could see thru it, in order for him to do the surgery. However, since I'd been throwing up some of the meds, I hadn't been able to get it all the way "clear". (Sorry to be so gross or crass here, but I told ya I'd tell ya for information purposes, in case you end up with the same problem!) But, my last bowel movements at home and on my own at the hospital, were very watery and yellowish, but werent quite clear yet! I was VERY worried that wouldn't be good enough, since the Dr. was VERY firm that it HAD to be clear (yellow-clear was ok), or he would NOT be able to see anything, and the surgery would have to be rescheduled). So, I was VERY worried when the surgeon got wind of this, that he might even want to reschedule (and God forbid, I'd have to repeat that horrible bowel prep, nasuea and vomiting ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Since the Go-lightly was what was making me sick to my stomach, that was a HUGE fear!!!) So, the nurses in the pre-op area told me not to worry that since my bowel movements were already watery and yellowish, (they saw one at the hospital...when you go there in the bathroom, they make you save it for the nurses to see it!) Even though it wasnt clear, the nurses told me that they could get me the rest of the way there. So, they gave me 2 enemas there in the pre-op area, and those did the trick! I had one more bowel movement (non-enema induced), before the surgery, and it WAS yellow-clear, the right color for the surgeon to be able to see to do the surgery! :woohoo:

That SURE was embarrassing to post! :biglaugh: But, if it ends up helping you, (or one other person who reads it, who ends up remembering that information and recalling it when THEY need it for their own colonoscopy someday), then it was well worth any momentary embarassment! (Besides, this whole site is set up based on urine problems! I guess it isn't THAT big of a leap to talk about our BM issues too! LOL!)

I sure do hope that things go smoothly for you this time! It really does sound like they will! I have been praying for you, and will continue praying for you too, (along with all the other prayers that are still going up for you too! And THAT'S ALOT of praying right there! :) :pray:But you are worth every, single one! And I know that God is going to answer every, single one that we are praying for you too! That's the best part of all!

Please keep us updated on how things go with the prep, surgery, and what the results turn out to be! You KNOW we will ALL be waiting very anxiously until we hear from you!

Much love and many hugs,
Amy

Amy, I wasn't totally "clear" that morning myself....I just think i Was DOOMED from the get go for that particular day. Nothing went right and I was anticipating a fun enema myself. I don't care if I have to have an enema, I'm taking the pills again because I can't get down the half lyghtly, none of it. Anything I have to drink makes me throw up.....and since the entire reason for this colonoscopy, upper endoscope procedure is to find out why I'm puking I don't need any extra help being nauseated! I'm taking compazine now for nausea and it's been doing the trick for me, thankfully. They know I'm still throwing up at the gastros office....I just told them yesterday and they're going to try and do this ASAP. Guess we'll see.......I don't have much faith that it will happen before Christmas reallly. BTW, WHAT are you doing on the board? I figured you'd be in the land of zombie right now after your surgery...how are you?

Now I can just go back to worrying about my veins again! LOL

Thanks everyone! BIG HUGS!!!!! :)
