Sharp pains in kidney's

Although I do have a UTI at the moment, the doctor in the ER yesterday told me that it was not in my kidneys, so he has no clue what it is about...hmmm I have been having sharp shooting pains in my kidneys after emptying my bladder. Has anyone experienced this before?:help:

Yes, and I was Dx with kidney stones. But also having an infection will make your kidneys hurt..

Are you taking an antibiotic for the UTI? My mom told me when I was on Cipro that I had to drink plenty of water or else it would hurt my kidneys. That could be a crazy mom idea, but I thought I would share :)

I do occassionally get sharp pains in my kidneys during a flare but when I do it always means I am not drinking enough water - if I up my water intake it calms down -

I would increase your water (if you don't feel like you are getting enough) - BUT if this doesn't improve soon you should go back to your doctor.
