I'm desperate to find ways of dealing with my flares. For some reason every night just when I'm about to relax my bladder starts going crazy--itching and feeling full--to the point where I'm peeing every ten minutes.

What does everyone take for their flares? I need immediate relief from this torture!!!!!

I've tried the heating pad, that helps somewhat, but not enough. T

Then I take pyridium--if I have any left--but my doctor will only prescribe six at a time. It seems to me that pyridium is the only drug that seems to offer immediate relief. Are any doctors will to prescribe this on a regular basis? I'm not clear on whether I can just take one and then hope it gets me through the night. Does anyone know how long it takes to work?

Thanks.

Maxine,

I have very similar symptoms- right before bed I have to get up several times to empty my bladder before I can calm down enough to relax.

When it's really annoying I take an over-the-counter generic bladder analgesic. You can usually find them near the feminine products isle in your drug store. It is very similar to Pyridium, although I'm not sure if the dosage is as potent. It sure does turn your urine orange like the prescription! I take the generic bladder analgesic an hour or so before going to bed.

As for prescriptions, Atarax has helped me the most with sleeping.

Best wishes,
-Michele

I think Michele is talking about uristat and yes you can get it over the counter.
