Ok..I know I have written recently somewhere Re: my appetite. I can't find the strand. In short...5 years ago, prior to IC, I was dx'd with type 2 diabetes. My weight was 220 and I was 5'4. In 8 months, I lost 70 pounds, but wound up getting ill with IC during that time so my diet had to change. (BTW: my body type is such that I'm pretty muscular even when a couch pototoe..so 150 poounds = size 8) over the last 5 years my weight went up and down but in the last 8 weeks, I've lost 25 pounds. considering that put me at 165 my docs arent concerned. But after Thanksgiving (in which I ate a bite, at most, of everything, I was incredibly sick...and no one else was so not food poisening) I felt like the food I ate was stuck and everytime I burped it was sulphery (not to be gross) and I went to the bathroom but the entire night and next day I was in miserable pain. I did try to eat a little last night when I finally felt hungry (and it was bland) but I got sick again. I dont what to do...I'm now down to a 12, which is fine, but they are getting loose. I don't know if I'm getting unintentionally anorexic. (I'm beyond the paranoia of my weight and appearance, I just think my body doesn't know how to handle food any more because I don't eat very much) My medication regimine hasn't changed...I am exercising more so I feel hungry but I try to eat and wham :toilet:. Yick. Guess I need to ask my Uro about it, but I wonder, since I am such a "prolific scar tissue producer" if something isn't binding my bowels? I don't know. Today, my tummy feels burning (actually intestinal area) But I need help....My docs aren't concerned because I'm not wasting away. however I hurt. OH well....If anyone has any advice, words of wisdom, or if you have had experience with appetite stuff..please let me know....Thank you

Definitely discuss this with your doctor.

You do need to talk with a doctor about this. I hope you can get an appointment in the next few days.

I've tried 3 different docs of mine. I'm trying a message board, for information, that deals with appetite problems. I'll see if they have any advice for me because I'm tired of this...it's nice to have my weight down but I feel like dog doo so it's no fun.

I would definintely talk to your doc. This doesn't sound right at all. The other problem is that if you are not eating you are also not getting the proper nutrients. It also is concerning that you are getting sick, so it is beyond appetite issues. I hope you can get in to see your doc ASAP.

I agree with everybody else and would talk to my PCP right away. I would tell them ALL of the symptoms because I can see how weight loss when you're heavy to start with wouldn't seem like a problem to them. I would make sure to tell them how sick you get when you eat and the burning in your stomach. I would also make sure to tell them that you're really worried about this and really want it looked into. My husband was getting sick every time after he ate and they thought it was his gallbladder but all those tests come back normal so the next step is an endoscopy. I would not take no for an answer this time and if your PCP won't help then get a referral to a gastro if needed or do what my hubby went and go on your own if you don't need a referral.

The blog on the "appetite control site" (anorexia, buliemia, overeating) were pretty helpful...Their moderaters first said the amount of calories I was eating were close to starvation so to make sure I was drinking enough (make sure my kidneys didn't shut down) and one of the women I talked to weighed 270 pounds and said she struggled to get doctors to take her seriously when she struggled with appetite issues. However, They all agreed I was losing weight quickly and was too close to the tipping point to just let it go. It's weird...I slept this evening for a while and got up, was starving and took a bite of the rice cassorole I made for everyone (which was a thumbs up except for the celery, L.O.L.) and I immediately yacked it back up . My husband went to Winco and bought my liquid drinks for me that help me get through these weird periods. Oy...It's weird...My husband and I were lamenting our ages last night (he asked if he looked 45...he has perma wrinkles on his forehead and around his eyes, ect..but is internally great..Me, my face has very few wrinkles, at 42. Just the crinkles at the eyes, but my insides must be 3x my age.) The combination of all the immuno diseases have done me in.

"sigh"...what I'd do for a steak and potatoes.

Tracey,
I would not only go to your uro but also the primary care or internal med doctor. If you have diabetes even Type II it could can cause these types of problems. Please don't let the doctors pass you off. I don't know if you have a diabetes specialist or an endocrinologist who could rule out diabetes as the cause of your problems. If diabetes is out of control it can cause the body to become malnurished and other painful nerve and stomach problems associated with it.

I hope you find an answer soon! It sounds like a frustrating situation and I am sorry it dampened you Thanksgiving Day.

Thanks ads, I have been closely monitoring my blood sugar...much more than I usually do. It's been Ok, a wee bit low. My youngest is having issues with food too. She decided in July to be a vegetarian, which I have no issue with..(I even know how to cook vegetarian food) But she hates vegetarian food. so she is only eating crap food. (top ramen, chips, etc...) Her dad and I have put our foot down re: nutrients...I bought some Soy powder today and am making after school fruit smoothies for her (hi in protein...she's a twig anyway and she's lost 10 pounds just as puberty started so it went into "remission") Anyway...the smoothies are good for both of us although she does not know I'm putting soy powder in them. She is also taking her lunch to school. Anyway, I am not doing so hot today...I had to run some errands in Portland and I was so tired. I think it's lack of food. Man, I just want to eat. I fixed Totertlinni alfredo, ceaser salad, nine grain artisan bread and grapes for dinner (kelsey didn't see me sneak the soy powder on her food...ha, ha) but it just smelled gross. I think the smell thing is my body's way of protecting me from the ill effects of eating. Gee. I have lost 5 more pounds. This is such a bad way to lose weight.

Anyway..It is very cold here in Portland...I am cold to my toes, my husband literally jumps awake when my toes touch his leg and squawks...It is pretty funny. I think it will snow...and I'm trapped in the house with a 12 year old who got "fart in tube" for her birthday (looks like silly putty and you jam your fingers in fast and the air pockets make a charming noise?) yeah...My life in a nutshell right now...PTHFHFHFHRTH..."MOM!" PthfFFF "DAD" (Why I get the loud noises and dad gets the soft ones I'll never know...my husband has been known to clear a video store and proudly own it) Sigh....
I will try to talk to my PCP again. I think as long as I am over the BMI for my height no one worries, which is annoying. My body is so different. If I go below 150, it will be the first time since I was in high school. And it will prob. put me in a size 6, a size 8 I look gaunt.
