Hi I am a 25yr old single mom of a beautiful little girl. This is all so very new to me. I was diagnosed at 15 with Ovarian cysts and in 2002 Endometriosis. I have been living with IC since August of 2006. I started having pain after I had an IUD put in, doctor's checked me with Ultrasounds and found nothing. In January my doc did a CT scan and saw more cysts and just assumed it was my endo flaring again so I had surgery in May. Still the pain didnt subside with Lupron shots and pain meds constantly. I went back to my old OB/GYN who had diagnosed me with the Endo and she referred me to a specialist! One appt with the specialist and I had 3 diagnosis' Endo, IC, and Trigger points(due to the IC). They did the test to confirm IC and I am now on Elmiron only been on it a few weeks but I am hoping it helps! My flare ups put me into terrible pain and make me sick to my stomach anyone have any tips? I have Tramadol for pain from previous doctor because I couldnt sleep. Now I noticed with the diet change it does seem to help but around my time of the month it flares up quite badly. Any tips on what worked for you all may help me and I am willing to try. I look forward to getting to know you all.

:welcome: to the IC network. I'm sorry to hear you have IC and endo. I have both as well as do many here. I know I have horrible periods and am actually taking birth control to supress my periods. Maybe ask your dr to put you on a pill where you only get your period 4 times a year so you don't have to go through that every month. There are so many meds out there to try. Elavil is a very common treatment for IC. It's an antidepressant but when taken in a low dose it is used to treat nerve pain. An antihistamine also helps lots of people so that may be something to look into as well. The patient handbook has a link at the top of the page and it has lots of info about the different treatments that can be tried. I would also suggest when you're having a lot of pain to try a heating pad or ice. Some do better with heat and some do better with cold. I personally am married to my heating pads in addition to my husband, lol. I hope you find treatments that will work for you and start to feel better soon. :grouphug:

I just wanted to welcome you!
I think Christine gave you some great advice. I would also recommend that you read the handbook. I would also recommend (and my own doc recommended) the IC Survival guide. You can find it in the IC store.
