Can zovirax cause urinary retention??

I got some type of cold/virus on Sunday that has just wiped me out! I've een eating and drinking ok but still dealing with this cold and doing a lot of resting. My dr. had put me on generic zovirax(acyclovir) to help with the frequency of viruses but I never took it. Last month when I was sick I tried taking half doses but by the second dose I had bladder pain and burning so I stopped. I wasn't really sure if it was the medication or the fact that I had a virus. Well...............here I am sick again and thought it's time to really give the zovirax a try. I took half a dose this morning and then half a pill with dinner. Prior to taking the medication my bladder was behaving. Anyway, a few hours after taking it with dinner the pain started again and then turned into urinary retention. I've been drinking lots of water but have only been able to void a drop. It's not an infection.....doesn't feel like one. This feels directly related to the zovirax. Has anyone else had this happen to them with this medication? My bladder is sore and swollen............I hope if I keep drinking water it will flush the medication out! Boy do I hurt! This can't be coincidence that when I tried it last month I also flared after the second dose!
Any thoughts?????

I have been on Zovirax since 2003 & it has never bothered me...but then again, everyone is different. But back then, I didn't have IC either, so maybe it could be a bother. I take it once or twice a day, but that's because I have to :rant:
