:toilet:Since I was dx with IC (only 3 mos. ago), I have found myself listening to other women when I use a public restroom. Most seem to have bladders that hold a lot more than mine and have a much stronger flow. I can tell by the sound. I know bathrooms are a private thing, but when you spend a goodly part of your day thinking about your bladder, my mind just goes there when I am around others. Does this make sense? I never really gave it a thought before I started having symptoms, but now it is always on my mind.

I know exactly what your talking about!! Ever since I was diagnosed-only 2 weeks ago--i have paid much attention to the number of times I and everyone else ventures to the bathroom! I now have a habit of counting how many times i go a day! I never paid so much attention to my "peeing" as much as i do now!!! :) Sounds funny but im sure "we are" not alone!! Have a great day!

I too seem to think about my and others bladders way to often. I think it goes with the territory. I do not think I have been listening but I am sure I will start now.

At work we only have 2 bathrooms with a toliet in each so I can't hear others peeing while I am and I don't go out much so that isn't something I do often. However I had to do a voiding journal and had to measure how much I was going. I was only going about 4 oz each time I went and once I went 9 oz but felt like I was going to burst. I made my husband pee in the measuring cup just to see how much he went and it was 3 cups full! I just about fell over! That really made me realize how little my bladder holds.

My 3 year old daughter has a strong stream that last's forever compared to mine, mine is much weaker, I always notice that! LOL!

Christine, I think that's a great idea. It definitely gives you a reference. It didn't occur to me until my doctor suggested it since I had no idea how much I should be able to pee since it had been so many years. I did the same thing with my hubby when I was doing my voiding diary before I had my interstim. I couldn't believe the difference in what I would pee which was less than an ounce most of the time (and that was with straining!) and he could easily fill a 2 cup measuring cup. I remember lying in bed in the morning when my boys woke up and I would wish I could pee so easily and as much. I haven't measured my bladder capacity in a long time. I need to do that since I am on such a normal schedule. I have even quit keeping a voiding diary after many years since I very seldom even go more than once while I am at my job for almost a 9 hour day.

Gosh, how wonderful to have a "private" bathroom at work. We have a faculty restroom with just 2 stalls, so there's always "company" in the next stall & a line of women waiting, since we all have our break between classes at the same time. Kind of weird, but we all wind up talking to each other, partly because it's the only time of day we can, but I'm always relieved to have talking because you can't hear so much of each other's well, um...process.

Oh Yes! A lot of us, when we were newbies (and not so new) feel the same way.

I've even said to my friends when we were out..."ya know, nobody likes a show-off!" :p but yes I've noticed how much people hold....man alive! Some people are like camels. LOL!

Or a lot of us have discussed the dreams about toilets and finding them or finding them....anybody see the movie Pleasantville? There's a scene where Reese Witherspoon opens a stall door in the bathroom at the diner and there's no toilet (she's stuck in a 50's TV program and back then they aren't allowed to show toilets) I've had that dream before....ugh!

Don't be embarrassed....nothing to be embarrassed about...its pretty normal really. Every one of us can't help but think about it because our silly bladders keep screaming to attention.

Thank goodness for my friends and family and people who I work with. Everybody has got their own little thing going on....two people at work have awful IBS, another friend has wicked Kidney stones, another just has bubbly belly and felt comfortable enough to ask me if I knew where the most private bathroom might be at work cos she needed some privacy....good grief! But its all cool. :D

I find myself mumbling under my breath to the people in the other stalls "enough already!". I have a tendancy to mumble outloud every now and then so I've had my fair share of strange looks and smart arse comments made to me..hahahaha...It's all good though! No worries here! :) :toilet:
And my husband I do believe is part camel! :hmm:

My husband is all camel! Sometimes he tells me he only goes pee twice all day! He likes to say this when he goes with me to my appointments, I feel like saying "show off!" LOL
