View Full Version : Egg nog anyone?

Wow, I drank a glass of egg nog and had bloating, abdominal pain, bladder spasms, etc. It must be the spices in it? Anyone else sensitive to it? Ho hum, back to water over the holidays.

Egg nog is one of the things I'll really miss this year. As a newly diagnosed diabetic, I'm afraid that's one of the things I'll have to pass up.

Bummer about the eggnog not agreeing with you. :(
I just finished enjoying my first half gallon of the year a few days ago. There a local dairy that makes the best eggnog I've ever had. I dont know what I'd do if I had to give it up.

How are you doing with the diabetic diet? I'm was just recently diagnosed and I'm really confused. Any suggestions of how to eat would be appreciated.

For Pam: I absolutely would encourage you to attend a diabetes education class; I just finished and it's been a life saver for me. They work with you individually and help you develop your own diet plan. For me, I'm finding if I plan snacks that seems to work best for me. I eat breakfast around 6:30 am, have a snack about 10:00, then lunch around 12:30 with a second snack around 2:30 or 3. I don't seem to be hungry after dinner.

My snack might be a small pear, banana, one of those 100 calorie packs. The great thing is that I'm not hungry all the time and I'm losing weight. I test glucose twice daily and it seems to be doing really well.

I'm still learning a lot, but feeling not so overwhelmed now.

Thanks a lot. I'll have to find out where those give those classes. Neither one of my doctors said anything about that. I know I need to do better then what I'm doing and I also need to get some of this weight off me. Who do you think I should call to check on these classes?

You could check the American Diabetes Association web site for a location near you. My doctor asked me if I wanted to take classes at the same visit when he told me I have diabetes.
