I know I spelled that wrong, but what it is, it makes your bones hurt, sometimes (almost always now) when I get up from sitting I can hardly walk and straighten up. I hurt so bad and can barely walk, or stand or sit for any length of time.
my mom is always telling me she just don't know how I live like this with 2 kids, because she has it too in her legs, my entire body is inflamed with it.
it feels like my bones are all bruised for the last few days it feels like some one has took a hammer and beat my arm between the shoulder and the elbow.

Oh Cindy,
I sorry you are hurting so bad. I wonder if the cold weather makes it worse? Is it kind of like arthritis? I think you are Wonderwoman to do all of the things you do. You are amazing :)
Sending well wishes your way and I hope you feel better for the holidays.
Love,

Ouch Cindy, I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. People always ask me how I do it and we don't really know do we, we just do what we have to do. I have heard of burtitis but I have no idea what it really is except in involves the bones. Maybe look it up on webmd to get more info on it? Is there anything they can give you to help with it besides what you're already taking? I hope you feel better soon :grouphug:

Hey Tig,
This is interesting, I posted a couple weeks ago how horrible my pain had gotten in the upper part of my legs and then my whole body started hurting as well. I went to the doc. and was told that the upper part of the legs that is a place called the bursa which is inflamation in the buttocks and the legs and feet. He call it bursitis. I ask him how many more itises"s I would have to get.LOL He responded, Their are quiet a few more out there, but I don't want you to get them. He gave me an inflammation tablet to take one a day. They burn my bladder so I cannot take them. Isn.t that great. Anyhow, just wanted you to know I know how you feel. It does hurt and is miserable. The weather does affect it. It is like everthing else it hurts like you are dying, but it won't kill us. Hope this helps.
JJ:smile tee Will certainly pray for you, I feel it too.

There are bursa along all the joints in the body, and when they become inflamed, that is bursitis (I am fairly sure that's the correct spelling, if anyone cares). I recently had an episode of bursitis just in one heel. My rheumatologist said he would normally start treatment with and NSAID type med like ibuprofin, but in deference to my IC, gave me a choice between a shot of cortisone or a short course of prednisone. I picked the prednisone, and it cleared right up.
Of course, it's more serious if you have it in several joints, and some people suffer for a longer time, but it is just an inflammation, and so anti-inflammatory drugs are generally effective. Steroids like cortisone and prednisone are anti-inflammatory, as are OTC meds like ibuprofin and naproxen.
Call your doctor back and explain that you can't take the tablet due to your IC. He should be able to switch you to a steroid, unless you have an allergy or something. You don't have to suffer with this, so please give yourself a break and get back in touch with the doctor. You have so much on your plate, the last thing you need is another source of pain!
Good luck, and I hope it gets better soon. Keep us posted.

Thanks Carolyn,
If it is one thing I love it is someone who puts the truth right out there as it is. I am one who tends to get discouraged and just thinks OH well, this didn't work. I never thought about steroids. I did once take methotrexate and steroids for the psoractic arthritis, but I had nausea problems with the metho. and doctor (no name) made a pass at me, so I ran from doctor, left meds behind and all. LOL. I have changed a lot over the past yrs. more wrinkles etc, so maybe he would not recognize me, since we only have one in the city I live in. You think. LOL I will call my doc. back and get something else, you are right I do not need another source of pain. I have truly enough like it is. Thanks again for the advice.
Love ya, and sending hugs and prayers,

an MRI can detect bursitis very easily - I just went thru a 4 month bout of it in both my shoulders and my family doctor, in order to diagnose it, had to do an MRI of the shoulders. It will show up as inflammation and you need not have any dyes or anything injected, took about 20 minutes for both shoulders. I asked how come it couldnt be detected thru a SED rate, and was told while helpful, it will not necessiarily pinpoint bursitis specifically but will just show generalized inflammation in your body whereas the MRI is site specific.
I took Motrin 800 mg for months and it healed fine. It can take months to go away and on top of having fibro, it does take a while. You NEED to pace yourself and just do what you can - and learn to let things go that arent important, or you wont heal.
Hope this helps you in your quest for an answer to the pain.

Oh, Sandymarie, I hope I did not come off as sounding brusque! That was not my intention. I just get so frustrated with doctors who don't seem to want to help their patients... Also, English is not my first language, and so very occasionally I think that things come out with the wrong connotations.
But I really do think you should get hold of that doctor, or anyone you can find (even if you have to travel), and ask about alternative anti-inflammatories. It can take time for treatment to be effective, and I just hate to think of people suffering in pain for longer than is necessary. Anyway, I'm very glad you're going to try again, and please accept my apologies if my response was a little too straightforward. :)
Thanks. Good luck with it. Keep us posted.

you know the pain sometimes is so bad I would love to just cut of my arms or feet lol.. I did try motrin for days and it did help some but my bladder was ******, lol funny term to use them 2 words in the same sentence :biglaugh: mine is in my shoulders, arms, my spine and hips, knees, feet and that tendon frrom the heal to the calf. I have already maxed out my cortizone shots for the year. I guess ths would be another reason I hate cold weather, and a/c kills me in the summer.

I have bursitis in my right hip. My doctor invited me to come in for steroid shots if it gets worse. It hovered for months in a mildly uncomfortable state. Then I got an idea. Maybe it needed to be stretched. Bad decision. I now have learned that pushing it to bend further than it wants to (which isn't very far) makes it worse. Now it hurts all the way down my leg. Sorry I don't have ideas as to what to do but thought I'd share a what not to do experience.

An anti-inflammatory that might worth a shot since you both have IC too, is Arthretec. (I may not have spelled that right.) But, basically, it has the NSAID in it, but, it also has Cytotec in it which has put lots of IC patients into remission! (There is even a Cytotec board here if you guys want to go and do a bit more research on the responses that other patients have had with it.) ICLori is our "resident expert" on Cytotec, and sort of watched over that board (unofficially) and answered everyone's questions. This was b/c she was the first (that I recall) that went on it. But, even if she wasnt the first to go on it here, she was DEFINATELY the first on here to keep a day-to day account of her experiances with it for all of us to see! (Sort of like an on-line journal on that thread!)
I even tried it myself, and had GREAT results with it, and even went into an almost remission for a few months! Except for 2 days.
I have several other conditions too, and even went in remission from those! I think know both probobly know the other stuff I am talking about, but, I will list them here, just in case. (Or in case others out there dont know. They used to be in my sig, but I took them out recently.)
Anyway, I have IC, Vulvar Vestibulitis, Pelvic adhesions, (tons from numerous surgical adhesions and adhesions frm endo), Endo (obviously), Vulvadynia, IBS, GERD, rapid heart beat, severe PFD among many. many other things! (My only reason for stopping the Cytotec, was I has a Lupus attack, (as you know it can go anywhwere, anytime) and it decided to attack, and it interfered with a med I needed for that.l) So, that is about the the size if the whole thing! But, if it werent for that, I would STILL be on it!
(Please forgive me if I am not making sense...I am just SOO tired. I have been up all tonite for a couple of nites now either from being sick, or not being able to sleep or whatever. (Last night writing to Mel35 and then wanted to get this one in real quick too), and of course am I am still just very, very sick, (but feeling better alot better!) I've been dozin off while writing this, though, maybe on and off for an hour. (So, when I am awake later and ACTUALLY read what I wrote, GOD only knows what I'll be finding!)
But the POINT of all that was to tell you to go read about Cytotec, b/c it might be just the thing you guys are looking for!
One last thing...until you get a defintite d/x of Bursitis, pls dont be so quick to self-d/x! (You above all people know how dangerous this can be!) :tsk: (Dont you love the "finger shaking" icon! LOL!) Seriously though, it very well COULD be something else, that IS more serious than Bursitis, and you have GOT to get the other things ruled out! (I dont want to scare you or anything, but there IS such a thing as bone cancer, you know?) Also, not as serious, as cancer, but still nothing to take lightly, (and something to be treated quite differently from Bursitis is Osteoporosis. So, just b/c your symptoms seem like your Mom's or other people's doesn't mean you have the same thing until you have the tests to rule out other things. 'Okay?
I dont want to scare you, or get you all worked up! And you are probobly completely right about it being Bursitis and can probobly come back in a week or so and write confidently that is what it is. BUT, until you can do that FOR SURE, then, we just gotta be safe...'Kay? After all, we only have one you, and Jake, Ashley and Stephanie only have one you as well! And you are very needed by everyone!
Much love and many hugs,
Amy

I had shots to my right hip bursa just a few months ago and yes, I am sorry to say, that you may too be suffering from Bursitis. I hate this stupid disease or diseases, whichever! They are making us all OLD!!! Geez, I am only 37 and I swear I have more complaints than my mother! My poor husband thinks he is married to his grandma! I am aching, sore, cant remember my kids' name or who just said what. If I get up to do something, you can just forget it, because I have. I got online tonight to check something and before I could enter my password, I forgot what I came on for. It is ridiculous. I dont know how I havent been fired yet. I dont know what to do and if I did know, I would forget! All we can do is pray...:bow:pray for relief on some days so that we can go on a trip, or, or, ....hmmm, I FORGOT!!!! I feel as if I am going nuts....:loco:
