So i've posted several times, if anyone remembers, I had my cysto hydro last wednesday. And the pain has not let up yet. It's actually gotten so bad. I'm at the point where im just wanna cry...I can't take it anymore. I thought I was a strong person, but im getting so tired...this pain. So I called my doc today to let him know it's as if i just came out of surgery everyday since my i had the procedure. I've taken all the Bactrim. I've tried the Ditropan, which makes it soooo hard to pee, so I dont like that. Before the surgery I was taking maybe 1 or 2 7.5mg Loritabs a day. Now im up to 2 at a time...and they dont even last but like 2 hours or so. The pain is just constant. I let him know it hurts even to pee still, I have spasms liek crazy. I lay down and can't even get comfortable. I asked him what am I suppose to do. He says that the pain meds arent going to help my bladder and that he's going to call in a script for Pyridium. Well this is almost like OTC Uristat. and i even took that today. worked for like maybe 20 minutes and then the pain is back. and its not just when im peeing. its all the time. UGH...I told him that I dont want to be a pain, but i cant even function. And my follow isnt even until December 13th. so am i suppose to just sit around cringing until then. i dont think a pyridium is going to cure this pain... I dont know how much i can take of this. I dont know if this is normal to feel this bad after 6 days or what? ugh...just a few months ago I was normal 23 college student and now i feel bed ridden...:(

God, I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling. I never had a hydro, so I don't know, but several other people have told me they had pain for more than a week afterwards. I don't know what to suggest. I do think the prescription peridium should be stronger than the OTC version, so maybe it will help. Definitely try it. If you're still spasming, you might want to ask your doctor about a muscle relaxer.
Home remedies are heat, or ice, whichever works; drinking baking soda in water (it's gross but it does help soothe a sore bladder), taking a warm bath, maybe with baking soda in it, and just trying to get your mind off of it a little bit. I do know how it is when it feels like your whole world has collapsed into nothing but this ball of pain -- I do know, I've been there. But put on some music or the TV or a DVD or something, it's better than just lying there focusing on the pain.
I hate that you have to go through this. We can hope that this whole procedure will help you in some way -- surely the results are important to know how to start treating you, and some people even feel better once the pain from the procedure lets up. It will get better. It will. It will not always be like this. You can survive this. I know it's awful, but it will eventually pass. Hold on to hope, okay? And let us know how you're doing over the next few days.

awwwww Dreamlove15, (((BIG MASSIVE HUG))) try the baking soda and water, honest to god it works!!!! Do it now!!! within 30 minutes you will feel a lot better, and you will be able to fall asleep comfortably. I am taking pyridium as well, and don't feel much of a difference (only my pee and tears are pumpkin colour).
Don't worry hon...eventually, the pain will pass.
Take one half of a teaspoon of baking soda and put it in a full glass of water. Stir, let sit a minute, and then drink it down. You can repeat this up to 4 times a day, not to exceed 2 teaspoons per day.

I remember after my scope procedure I had a horrible reaction with violent spasms and pain. I was given proced which helped calm things down. It has been reformulated and now is called prosed ds. Your doctor should not have any issues prescribing that for you. Also, maybe some ultracet. It is a pain reliever but a non-narcotic so your doctor shouldn't have any problems with prescribing that. I hope those two meds can help you if you can get your doctor to prescribe them. Good luck.

I'm so sorry your still in pain - when I had my hydro and cysto - I was very surprised also by what a tough recovery it is - please continue to let your doctor know if you are not feeling better though.
Please try a heating pad, ice, and drink lots of water -- are you trying the i.c. diet? If not - you might want too to help your bladder calm down from the procedure. (My recovery is what forced me into the diet - otherwise I would probably still be eating and drinking whatever I wanted - I'm a bit hard-headed that way).
I hope you feel better soon ---
