How often can you have a hydrodistention? My uro said every 6 months. Well the one I had in August, they could stretch my bladder to 500cc's (woke up with really bad "menstural cramp" type pain). It was not a cure by any means, but I was able to exercise for the first time in months. I was going 3-4 times/week and I got cocky and thought I could run (when my bladder trouble started) and that upset things again and have been miserible since. So... just wondering... how often does/can a person get a hydrodistention?

I was told by my URO I could get them every 6 months, but after my first one I will never get another one. I am glad it helped you.

Donna should have an answer for you, I know that's a big part of her treatment program. We can hope that she'll see this thread and respond, or of course you could PM her.

Oh I know how bad your experience was! It wasn't a cure by any means and I was sore and had retention for a couple of days... but it did help more than anything else I have tried (probably 45% improvement... enough I could do a few activities I have been missing). I think I want to try it again before I consider something like botox (and since I've exhausted most meds... that is what I am coming up to...)

I've never had one sooner than six months, but we used to have a member here who had them every two or three months.

I think it depends on the doctor.

I hope you come out of your flare soon.

I usually have them every 6-8 months myself. They are pretty much part of my treatments.

I have gotten a hydro every December for the last 4 years... Just seems like clockwork that in oct or nov every year my bladder starts "kickin":cussing: Of course, now that it's Thanksgiving and time to travel, HORRIBLE FLARE!!!!!! I really hate it because my whole family thinks that I am just one big hypochondriac so I have to TRY to keep going and going and going and going or else I have to put up with everyone's BS about what a hypochondriac I am:mad:
