My bestfriend is pregnant and has been put on bedrest for 7 weeks. I want to get her some things that will entertain her. Do you all have any ideas?

Sorry to hear that. 7 weeks can seem like an eternity when all you can do is lay in bed. I had to do the same thing with my pregnancy for the last 6 weeks due to toxemia. How about some good books, magazines, or movies. Do you have a hand held nintendo or other electronic games that she could play? How about some crossword puzzles? I pray that she gets through this and delivers a happy and healthy baby :pray::pray:

If she's at all into needlework, some baby bibs, blankets, etc., to embroider might be a pleasant break. Or even a pretty nightie to cheer her up --- I also like the book, magazine, movie ideas. Books with short stories might be best since they don't require long term concentration.

When I was confined to bed, my MIL brought me a whole stack of magazines that I'd probably never had read otherwise. They were great, especially because I could read them in short stints and they didn't require a lot of concentration. But you have to consider the person. Would she like to see DVD's? There are so many movies and also TV shows available. Does she knit? Would she like to learn? Is she a reader? Does she love music? I think you must know her well enough to guess what she'd like, and if you don't come up with an idea, you could always ask her.

When I was on bedrest I loved when a friend bought me a pretty nightgown and new perfume. She also brought a couple of seasons of "Sex in the City" for me to watch. Cheap and tawdry was just what I needed!!! Speaking of which she also brought a couple of magazines, like the Enquirer and People!

Made the time fly. Also remind her of how busy she will be after the baby comes. She will covet the time she had in bed.

What about a scrapbooking kit that is for a new baby. That comes with all the extra little cute things and she could begin her baby's scrapbook? I wish I would have had time before Katie was born to start it. Here she is almost 5 and I just started year 3 in her scrapbook. Once the babies get here it is hard to find the time to do those little things.

I never have been put on actual bedrest, but like many of us, have spent alot of time in bed after different surgeries and treatments as well as our share of days of "no way I am going to get out of bed days!". I am definitely showing my age, but I was a huge Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons fan, so my husband went and got me both DVD series. He would also go get me old movies to watch from time to time. That would especially be fun "for me" to watch the old Christmas movies this time of year.

I remember after I had my interstim, I planned on getting all my pictures in albums. I did get some of them done, but I was behind by almost 20 years. That's a great idea with the scrapbooking! ***HDB, try 20 years!!! LOL!*** I went to a scrapbook party not long ago and they were talking about how easy scrapbooking was and of course she had these great examples of what she did for her kids and how she had a book for each year of their life. I told her I was lucky to get them developed (long before the digital age) and put in a regular album with my kids.

Another thing I liked was the electronic crossword puzzle game that my mom picked up for me from Bed Bath and Beyond. It had thousands of puzzles and I didn't have to have books everywhere, nor keep finding my stupid pencil.

That's a good idea about the nice comfy pjs as well. I think every girl loves to get comfy pjs!

Most importantly, try to have many people to go by and visit her from time to time.

What about Seduko? It's an addicting # game. They have it for all different levels. I found a book (like crosswords with lots of puzzles) of it at Target for $1.
They can be mindless, but video games might be good too. I played the trail games of Tetris and Packman on my cell for a while the other night.
