Today he won't refill my ambien because it shouldn't be his responsibility. It doesn't have anything to do with the bladder that I can't sleep because I have to pee all night. He says he will only treat the bladder. Why am I being treated like a crazy addict because I want to sleep?

That would be a horrible event for me. If I don't have something to make me sleep, I will be awake all night long. My Rezorem and my Proced are the only meds that have allowed me to start sleeping more than a couple of hours at night!

I hope you find an answer!

Yeah, like you are really going to abuse Ambien. Give me a break. Ugh!!:cussing:

Wouldn't it be nice to abuse sleep!!! Oh to be carefree and sleep through the day!

isn't Ambien non-addictive?

Ambien has been found to be addictive

I would probably go back to my PCP if I were you. My PCP is very understanding and knows that specialists don't really want to deal with anything other than their speciality. My PCP was actually handling my pain meds until I started seeing a pelvic pain specialist. It does suck though to have to go see so many different dr's to deal with your different issues.

It was my Dr who put me on Ambien. It would look like since the reason you can't sleep is due to your bladder it would be "HIS" responsibility. I guess since he wants to be a huge Jerk. I would either call or go into see your Family Dr to ask will he refill it for you.

Best wishes!

Why are so many doctors such jackasses?? It is almost as painful as
the disease. It's not like you asked him for a refill on your birth control
or acne medication. I think that doctors dealing with chronic disease
should take sensitivity training. Is he a good doc otherwise???If not,
I'd start looking for a new one. Your disease is probably the reason
why you don't sleep, which makes it his responsibility to treat.
sorry you had to deal with that.

I agree with the others, this DOES fall on his watch! I dont have a URO, (My Gyn treats my IC and I get my pain meds from a Pain Dr. But my pain Dr gives it to me, for the same reason you need it!) He also gives me Provigil to get me up in the morning b.c I wouldnt get up b/c so many of my meds (7) cause drowsiness, but then I cant sleep b/c of the peeing and urgency at night, so I have to take Ambien CR. So, I'd NEVER wake up/get up w/o Provigil too! (I also have Lupus, Fibro and a string of other things that cause chronic fatigue and drowsiness, so as you can see, this is a problem!) But, fortunately, he has been kind enough to figure it out!

But YOUR DR, well, he is just a jackasss that deserves to be stricken with the worst case of IC imaginable and impotence too! (Since most of us have a bit of trouble in THAT department as well!) THEN let's see if he develops some more compassion!

Dont know if you are a believer or not, but just in case, the Bible gives a penalty for lack of compassion: Proverbs: 21:13 "Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, will cry himself and not be heard." Also, of course everyone has heard the old saying from the Bible, "You will reap what you sow!" He is sowing plenty now, and he sure will be reaping it when HIS day comes! Some day, he WILL be old and he WILL be sick! And he will be a patient somewhere! Of THAT, we can be sure, and he will be dependant then on someone else's mercy, but when his time comes, that mercy will NOT be extended to him, b/c he has NOT shown mercy himself!

Meanwhile, you get yourself to someone who IS kind and merciful! (Unless of course he is a good Dr. otherwise and this is just one fluke thing with him.) Then, of course, ride it out and get the med from your GP, Gyno or anyone else.

Again, I am so sorry! It shouldnt be so hard to be a patient!

Many hugs,
Amy

I love my ambian cr...although after taking it I have NO MEMORY. :loco:Seriously, the next day I have no memory of what happens after taking it. My family dr will not give it because he thinks it is addictive, so I go to a walk in clinic and they make me come in every 3 months to make sure all is well. They told me lots of people suffer abnesia with the ambian and to be sure I right to bed after taking it.
My husband loves it because I am so relaxed with it that I do not worry about the pain that comes with sex. I may not always remeber the wonderful passionate nite in detail but the smile on his face the next day is even better.
On a serious note, I do have to have something to help keep me asleep for more than 30 minutes. The ambian is a God send. I would be looking for a doctor to perscribe it. Let us know what happens.

I'm just adding my 2 cents here...but in order to get Ambien and other drugs like that....I have a counselor I go see and then a nurse practioner who works with the counselor (since the counselor can't prescribe)...in this aspect those particular drugs are being used to treat anxiety and depression....I had to go this route to get help for my IBS, I found I got nowhere with the gastro I had then, and the uro wasn't comfortable prescribing those (which I understood and was fine with it).

I was taking Ambien and decided to stop because my kitchen was ransacked and annihilated on an almost daily basis....the nurse agreed with me and we're working together to find something else that clicks.

Hoping this might help someone :)

LOL! My husband loves "Ambien sex" too, (as he calls it!) Since I never have ANY memory of it, I have NO idea why, or what we are doing different! :loco: But, I think it is b/c I have sex like a man, (want to get it over with quick and go to sleep right afterwards without talking!) What man doesnt love that?!! :biglaugh: (At least that BETTER be what he loves about it! :lmao:) But, I dont take it very often. (The way sex is usually torture for ICers, I figure that THE LEAST they oughta have to do in return is lay there and endure the chatter...ya know? :biglaugh: But, it is kinda funny, HE HATES ALL meds! (Wont even take an asprin himself, EVER!) Yet he's like "Are you sure you dont need to take the Ambien? You know how much better you will rest!" If you knew him AT ALL, you'd know he is the least considerate man alive! So, that is DEFINATELY NOT his what is concern top concern is! LOL!

That is too funny that your husband loves "Ambien sex" too! (I also take the Ambien CRs) By the way, there is a coupon for them in this month's issue of Good Housekeeping for a free one week trial for either dose! You just take it to your pharmacy and can use it even if you have been taking Ambien CR forever! :woohoo: This was GREAT for me, since ins wont cover mine...they only cover reg Ambien which is worthless for me, once I get up that first time for the first potty break in the night!) Hope it helps you too! (If you have r/x coverage, I think you get the discount of 1/4 off of your co-pay!) Hope this helps!

Hugs,
Amy

Oh I forgot about the Ambien sex!!!! When I took Ambien, my husband had some of the same comments at first. I am glad he enjoyed it, I didn't remember a thing! Then I started doing things during the night including cleaning my 1 year old carpet with bleach. Not a good idea!!! I cleaned my carpet in 3 rooms. You should have seen my dining room. I used to have this beautiful beige carpet. After my cleaning carpet spree that I don't remember! I had huge white spots everywhere. Before the carpet incident, I also met my future DIL for the first time on Ambien. My son was bringing her home and I thought they would be home earlier, so I had taken my Ambien since they were supposed to be in by midnight and I had to be able to get up for work the next day. I figured I would just meet her, then excuse myself and get to know her the next day. They were coming home for a few days during their Christmas break from college, but they ended up being an hour late. My husband did he best to make me stay in bed, but of course I wanted to meet my son's new girlfriend! I definitely made a great impression "I kept telling her that she looked alot like his last girlfriend!" I also asked her if she wanted me to fix her some pancakes since I knew that I had a new griddle wrapped under the tree! By then my husband and both my sons were physically taking me back to bed. That has become one of the many family stories told over and over! I am sure it will come up again this Christmas along with this next story LOL! That same night, I woke up after a few hours and decided to finish wrapping my presents. My husband noticed I wasn't in bed and went to look for me. I was sitting indian style and just leaning over the present I was wrapping. He said he had to pick me up since I wouldn't wake up and he just layed me on the couch and he stayed in the den watching me the rest of the night. It became another family joke when everyone was unwrapping their gifts since I didn't tag them with the correct names. Poor Jessica was the one to open my son's underwear box. I can sill remember the look on her sweet face and her saying "I don't think this is mine".

After the bleach incident, I was put on Lunesta, which made me itch like crazy. Now I am on Rezorem which is not addictive and I don't have any sleep stories anymore either. I have been on it for several months and as long as I go straight to bed, I sleep for about 6 to 7 hours. My doctor is so glad to find something that makes me sleep. I don't need anything to help me wake up and I don't have any daytime sleepiness like I did with some of my other sleep meds that had been around longer. My doctor said that they would put an elephant to sleep, but I still didn't sleep for more than a few hours on anything before Rezorem. I am definitely praying that it will continue to work.

:biglaugh: That is hilarious! Don't you know that girl had some stories to tell when she got back home! :lmao: I have done some pretty whacked out things on Ambien too, so I can DEFINATELY relate! (I guess this is why they tell ya to go straight to bed after you take it! LOL!) My own "whacked out Ambien moments" have ALWAYS been when I was consiously fighting sleep (for whatever reason), after I took the Ambien. (Like someone called and I wanted to talk to them, or a tv show came on that I wanted to watch, or WHATEVER! It sounds like yours have been that way too!)

I have heard similar Ambien crazy stories from my friends here who have taken it, or are currently taking it. We oughta start a "Crazy/Funny Ambien stories thread, just for the laughs! Ya know? I bet we'd ALL be rolling in the floor laughing if we knew what everyone else did when they tried Ambien and fought it too! :lmao:

Thanks for sharing! That was a hoot! (I bet Christmas is a BLAST at your house! :))

Love and hugs,
Amy
