I don't have (or at least think I don't) have IC, and I am, all intents and purposes, a teetotaler. We had a celebration at my church (I'm a Whiskeypalian *snicker*) in which I had about 6 ounces of champagne. I drank about half of it (didn't guzzle, just sipped) and about 10 minutes later I had a burning sensation in my bladder and a strong urge to void. The next day I had about 3-4 ounces of red wine and the same thing happened. Does anyone know if alcohol can be metabolized that quickly into something that irritates the bladder? When I did drink fairly regularly (much younger day) I don't remember this happening. I have had a TURP and botox for UI caused by the TURP. Anyone have a similar experience?
(This is a second post. Maybe the title discouraged responses.)

It didn't cause a flare for me that fast but it did cause one. I drank about 2 drinks one evening at a friends house and when I woke up the next day I had a lot of burning and my bladder just felt really sore and beat up. That was the last time I had anything to drink and perhaps because of how crappy I've been feeling lately the last time I will for any time in the near future.

When I drink I can feel it in the bladder right away. It only takes a few sips for some of us. It can be trial and error as far as what you can tolerate or not. Perhaps you could have a UTI, maybe you could call your Doctor before they close today to see if you could get in and have your urine checked and cultured.

Your Title is fine. Most of us ICer's know about Alcohol causing pain due to having IC.

For a list of what causes IC Flares, you can check out the IC Diet here: http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/

Thanks for the responses. Guess I found one more thing I can't do anymore.
