Well, I just had some slightly spicy ramen soup and now my bladder seems to be burning more. I am kind of sorry I ate it because now my bladder is very irritated. Im sure some of you did the same at first to see if you were sensitive to certain foods. If someone eats a no no food and they notice their bladder burns does that mean they have IC?

Dreamy,
I have problems when I eat anything with alot of salt and hot spices and preservatives. My bladder usually burns about 45 min to an hour later. And anything with MSG causes all kinds of troubles..

Very spicy foods will upset my stomach and then cause a slight burning feeling in the bladder. That is why I stay away from them. Top Ramen or other soups like it usually contain MSG which is labeled as "natural flavoring". A lot of us cannot tolerate MSG. They can also have some sort of soy as part of the ingredients.

An important thing to keep in mind when we are faced with the decision to ingest/not ingest a food or drink is that everything we put into our body will eventually go through the bladder on its way out of the body.

Oh I had an experience exactly like yours, it was awful! It was though, before I had an IC diagnosis, something was going on but at that time we didn't know what. Hubby had made some ramen noodle soup up for lunch one day, and doctored it up a bit with some red pepper flake etc - boy did I pay the price for that!!! I will never ever forget it, ever lol. I am sure it was a combo of the spices and the msg that got me.

But I wouldn't say that just because your bladder had a reaction that it would make it a positive for IC. It can be a clue when trying to figure out what's going on, leaning the IC way etc. ;) but not a positive.

Foods can definitely trigger pain in an IC patient.
