Well, I survived the colonoscopy!!!! The prep of course was not fun. I did the Osmo-Prep pills. It was much better than the liquid prep I had years ago. I was VERY bloated from drinking so much water in such a short period of time and almost threw up a couple of times, but overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have a very twisted colon. Seven years ago, the doctor could not get through the last curve so I had to go for a barium enema the following day...YUCK! This time he used a pediatric scope and a lot of lubricant. He had a very rough time around the same curve again but managed to get through it. He told me I had a lot of bruising and irritation from working so hard to get through it. Anyway, he found nothing. He is assuming that the blood I had in my stool was from a fissure that must have now healed. He found no polyps or colitis, etc. I was very relieved. However, when I got home I had terrible cramps...felt like diarrhea cramps. Every time I'd sit on the toilet, I'd pass a glob of very bloody mucus. I did this for 12 hours. I called the office and he told me the blood was from the irritation he created in the curved area of my colon. After taking some Tylenol, the pain subsided and I slept through the night. When I woke up this morning, my belly started grumbling and cramping again. I was able to sit on the toilet and relieve myself some more (no more blood) but I'm still cramping on and off. Did anyone else ever experience this before? I had to call off of work again today!!!! I think I may call the doctor in a little while if this does not subside. Thanks!
