I didn't really know where to post this, but if you do leak a little trying to get to the bathroom (or walking to class as in my case today), what can you do to get rid of the urine smell? I didn't expect to have an issue, but I did and was damp and felt like I smelled all day. What do you do/use???

Have you tried using panty liners, this might help..

Well, I don't usually leak that much (drips here and there), but today was different. I had to park in the far parking lot (had to walk about 1/2 a mile to class) and so I leaked quite a bit. I got a pad when I got there, but the damage was already done. In the past, I found that panty liners or pads don't trap the urine odor, just the wetness. (I used to wear them when I exercised).
Oh geez, that's frustrating.
Poise pads have an absorbent strip in them that neutralizes odor. They come in different sizes, thicknesses. There's another brand called Tena, I think. Maybe try one of those for bladder leakage, rather than the ones for periods?

I was just reading about this trying to find something to help you and seen where someone mentioned that you can sprinkle some baking soda on your pad and this will absorb the odor..

Maybe a spare pair of panties in your purse, just in case?

Hi,
I sprinkle Summer's Eve or Vagisil feminine powder on the pad. Just make sure the powder is not made from talc as I heard this can possibly cause cancer. Most feminine powders I see are talc free now.

This is so embarrasing, but does anyone elses urine smells sometimes? Mine does and I don't know why. I don't eat asparagus.
It is embaressing :) but yes mine does at times. I was just telling my husband that I dont understand WHY it is so strong. I have been drinking so much water and it wasnt even yellow, it was perfectly clear. but it sure smells strong...like acid. not that this answers your question, but you arent alone. its not very attractive is it!
LOL~
No it is not! You make a good point tho, maybe it is like acid or the urine is really acidic....hum???? I drink a ton of water too!
Anyway, hate it!!!
P.S. Love the Turkey:)

If your urine has an unusual smell, it might be a good idea to check in with your doctor. It could indicate a UTI.

I routinely wear panty liners --- Poise has some chemicals that are very irritating for me, but Tena brand seems to be okay for me. I get the very smallest ones and carry an extra in my purse, which has been there for months now.
Regular panty liners don't get rid of the urine smell if you have any leakage at all. I honestly feel more comfortable wearing a Tena even if it stays dry all day most of the time.

I used poise or any of the incontinence pads when I traveled. However, if you are wet, you really want to change the pad as soon as possible to avoid other infections. You definitely don't want to sit all day in a wet pad. The beauty of the pad is that you can dispose of it and the smell. I use pantyliners now since I don't have as much of a problem.
I just noticed a 'yeasty' smell to my urine and called the doc. It was an infection. Drinking plenty of water is the best remedy - (and staying away from asparagus) !

I rarely have leakage issues but I always carry extra panties in the inside smaller zipper of my purse. So maybe if you wore a pantyliner and if you did leak the pantyliner would protect your clothing
