About 4 years ago, after I had my daughter, and my body was trying to get back to normal, I had ended up in severe pain, couldn't get anything down, so I went to the doctor who did an ultrasound and showed a large cyst. After about a week, the cyst went away and I was back to feeling fine, except for this burning ache, that has stayed all this time. I don't have any cysts, there's nothing wrong with my ovaries, but why this burning ache? Is this part of IC? It does seem to flare up every now and then and cause excrutiating pain, but its not in the area of the bladder.. Maybe its in the ureteurs (sp?) ?
I can't seem to get an answer about this, no one seems to know, The doc assumed endo, but he didn't see any. All I can think of, is that its related to this IC..
Thanks!

Does it feel like it's in your bladder? I have had the symptom where it feels like my bladder is on fire and I has some stabbing pains like my bladder could just come out.

I have most symptoms like most people talk about on here, the burning, aches, spasms, sharp shooting pains, but I don't think its the bladder.. maybe i'm wrong, but its towards the left of where I would assume the bladder is. I have a constant "fire" that rarely eases up, and the pains come and go, sometimes they're tolerable, sometimes not. The pains will radiate through my pelvic area which I would assume would be where my bladder is..
Maybe I'm just confused as to where the bladder actually is Lol

I wish I could help. Hopefully someone else may have a suggestion.

I have a lot of left-side pain too. My doctors collectively think that (a) my psoas muscle on that side is in spasm and (b) that pelvic pain can be referred around the area so much that it's very hard to know where a particular pain is coming from. (I know that's true; when I had appendicitis, all the pain was on the wrong side of my body!) So -- as long as they've ruled out everything dangerous, it could be IC related or it could be a muscle problem. Just make sure your doctors so a thorough "rule out" for anything serious.

I agree the Dr. needs to do more test and rule out other things. But you could do this while waiting.
When you notice it burning and flaring write down what you ate that day. And then check with the Patient Handbook and see if the foods you have consumed are on the problem list. If so I would stay away from the problem foods just until you can get a Dxs..
Heres the link to the Patient Handbook.. Please keep us informed on how things are going..

Thank you leelee and Berkshire. It really seems to flare up right before I start my period, another reason I always thought it was my ovary. Also I got on the depo shot back in early June - and the pain completely went away and was even able to have normal pain-free sex again, but the urination issues were still there. The shot made me nutters - my moods were way out of whack, so I cancelled the second shot I was due - and by the beginning of Sept when I was due back, the pain came back really severe and intercourse was so much worse than before I started the shot.
I'm not really sure what tests there are to see what's going on. Could IBS cause that type of pain? I'm thinking about seeing the doc for that too, I have terrible bowel movements that cause lots of pain that seems to gurgle through my abdomen.. Sometimes it seems that burning ache will subside after a BM. Maybe its putting pressure on that area?

Many people do flare around their menstruation; some even take birth control medication so th4ey only have a few periods in a year.

The depo shot definitely relieved alot of my flares and mental issues during my ovulation. My periods were normal, just the normal cramping pain as usual, just extra bleeding since I was anemic. Try the keeping up with your food and see if you can relate anything to what you are eating. I have read back on some posts and have noticed people saying that their pain is more to one side at times. My pain was usually pressure and cramping (alot like cramps during a period). When I was having my flares though, I had alot of pain in my lower back and between my thighs.
The bladder is small, but it definitely causes some pain all over the pelvic region.
Please keep us posted.

Thanks Tracey and Donna.
I've been off the shot since the beginning of Sept, and my period has been really whacked out. I spotted for 2 weeks, and now the last 2 weeks, its been one day on, one day off. I'm sure its just a result of my body getting back to normal, but I wish it would just clear out and get done with.
I'll probably decide on birth control again after I figure out how the diet is working for me and if I am still flairing around menstrual time..
