My doc says this is not good , but I dont know how to get it more acid.

Also, if you doctor wants you to get it down, did he give you any suggestions about getting it lower? The urine is one way the body has to keep the body's pH under control. It is dangerous for the body pH to vary even a little, so the body balances it by getting rid of the excess acid or alkaline materials via the urine. Usually a person's urine pH bounces around as the body adjusts it's own pH. Was the 8.0 a one time reading, or was it done several times during the day and it is an average?

Personally, I would never get my urine that high a pH on purpose. If this is due to some action your taking I would strongly suggest you call your doctor and tell him about this high urine PH as it is not healthy for you.
Are you taking baking soda or something? If you are, you are taking too much. Was this reading only once or it is daily?
A high protein diet will turn the urine more acidic, but I think you need to figure out just why its that high?

My urine PH is typically high as well. Trying to get it lower is hard. I have tried and nothing seems to work. I have tested my PH for over 5 yrs now and it has always been high regardless of the time( high in the morning, afternoon and evening). Strange thing is when I am feeling a bit better, my PH does lower a bit.

Weird is that if I eat anything that is very alkaline, my bladder burns like crazy. I do believe that my high PH has something to do w/ my IC. I have also read that having either a very high PH or a very low PH can cause the same symptoms.

How do you all check for that at home. Or do you go to the doc. I live in a small area and I am never told anything. I have had ic for 30 yrs. Sound like I need to learn a whole lot, they haven't told me.

That night when it tested very green, I drank 2 glasses of RO water and ate 2 oz of chicken. 2 hours later it was down to 7.0.
So I was not drinking enough for one thing.

I had started on a multivit that has greens in it... Multi Green by now.
That may be why so alkaline too.
I tend to eat too little protien too.
I can eat lots of fruit now.
I take lots of good calcuim supplements too for my bones.
I have not had to worry about my bladder for over a year now, but the greens gave me a very small flair - so I cut way back on them for now.
I have been lucky and cured myself with the natural things..

I get the real good doctor urine testing strips too. What a God send.
So great to be able to test for blood and all that without going to the doctor and paying a big co pay!

are you drinking a bottled water with a higher PH.

My urine PH is usually 7.5, and i think it is because of the evian water I drink.

Im going to order some strips and test my urine for a week and see.


I read somewhere that if the PH is too high it acts much like bleach in our bladders. ouch!
