Well my usual captain and coke is now way out of the question. I thought white wine would work for me...but I have a flare up that lasts for nearly a week everytime I have a few glasses (watered down with ice cubes and pure blueberry juice added). I only like to have a glass of wine on a Saturday night now and then. Has anyone tried blueberry, pear, or blackberry wine? Does the fermentation process add the acidicity that we can't deal with?

Which is more acidic? Grapes or raspberries? It's so difficult to force myself to try and see what happens!

I have heard all wine is very high in acidity, if I drink one drop of alcohol I am in the bathroom every 15 minutes, I haven't found any tolerable yet. Hopefully someone may know of one you could try.

Hmmmm I think that wine is acidic, but some types of wine have lower levels of acidity. Chardonnay is one of them. Have you tried that?

Thanks for the input. I didn't get a chance to get back online here so I tried it Saturday night. I was already in a mild flare up that was starting to go away but took a chance. It really made a difference!! I had some minor pain in the morning, but it was no worse than the day before...normally after drinking a white wine the pain is like razorblades. Now I have to try it when I'm not in a flare up...that will be the true test!

That's great! I'll list out the other ones for you if you want.
I have occasionally had Coors lights. They don't seem to hurt me too terribly.
At times when I've drank wine, I've woken up 5 times to pee!!! For me that's a lot! It's usually more like 1 or 2. For a mixed drink I've tried vodka with tonic or soda water. It doesn't taste good so I don't drink too much! haha The drink I've heard about here that sounds good is vanilla vodka with Ghiredelli white chocolate liquor. I haven't found a place that serves that though.

A~
I want to hang with you. You know some really fun drinks :evilsmile . I was a wine taster and collector (fancy way of saying whino!) until my IC became serve. Boy do I miss it.

I too have found that I can drink some whites. Someone told me that the difference is if the wine was aged in an oak or wood barrel (like all reds) instead of a steel vat like most whites.

Oh, the good old days! Although, I don't miss the minor headaches.

Oh wow, the white chocolate drink sounds delicious. I am constantly buying white hot chocolate for something different! I will try to find some of the vodka try mix and try one evening.

:lmao:

I don't know how much you'd want to hang with a pregnant lady! I'm 2 months along! So, no drinking here. I did go to a Halloween party though. I was Britney Spears so I had my Starbucks cup with water in it the whole time. I got paid to take home a friend of a friend who had too much to drink by 8:30. Some of the people there were doing Tequila shots and keg stands. I guess it is really nice not to have that head ache you were talking about. hehe
I've thought many times it'd be cool to do an IC get together - like a potluck where we can bring all the foods and drinks we like. Well, take care!

Well, you would still be fun because I don't drink like I did either. You are right, it would be fun to have one. I understand completely as I have a 3 and 5 year old. Lots of driving drunk people home!! My husband loved it.

I agree, it would be really fun to have a "reunion" for lack of a better word, or all us IC'ers.

Congrats on your pregnancy!:woohoo:
