Recovery time from hydrodistention?

I had my 3rd cysto/hydrodistention last Friday, and am curious about the typical recovery time. During this procedure, there were (3) places that the surgeon burned off ulcers where it was bleeding. From the pictures, there were lots of red spots and areas that looked almost like skin w/rug burn.
So far, it's taking me a while to get any energy back, and I still have moderate pain. I want to go back to work soon, but until yesterday, was barely able to get out of bed for more than a few minutes at a time. Each day is a little better. I was wondering what others had experienced after this procedure. Thanks!

I had mine done on a Wednesday and didn't go back to work until the following Tuesday so it was almost a full week and I didn't even have any ulcers removed. I know I had no energy either and I think that was my body trying to heal my bladder. I wouldn't push it though because if you do it will probably take you longer to heal than if you had just given your body the needed time to get better. I actually tried to go back to work on Monday but I was about to walk out the door and realized the process of getting ready for work had worn me out and I called work and took that extra day and I'm so glad I did. I hope you start to feel better soon.

I had my first one a year ago and it took me about 5-6 days to get back up and moving around. I am having my second one next Tuesday, so hopefully there are no problems!!

I usually have mine on a Thursday and I can go back to work on Monday. The last one I had on Friday, even that I was able to go back on Monday. But we are all different-some people it takes a few days longer.

I had mine on a Thursday and did not go back to work until a week from the following Monday - but probably could have gone back by Wednesday of the next week - but I'm glad I gave myself plenty of time - the exhaustion was amazing.

I had my procedure on Monday, Oct. 29 2007. It was my second cystoscopy with hydrodistention but the first under general anesthesia. No ulcers were found and no biopsy was taken. Immediately after the procedure I was offered either morphine or another pain drug. I choose the latter. When I went home I took phenazopyridine as prescribed. I was prescribed Tylenol with codeine but choose not to take it as I don’t like the side effects and didn’t think my level of pain warranted it. I kept it on hand just in case, though. I stayed home from work on Tuesday. I was exhausted and slept on and off throughout the day. I returned to my office job on Wednesday. My painful bladder syndrome symptoms have increased markedly as a result of the cysto/hydro. It is now 6 days since the procedure and I still am experiencing almost constant burning and I almost always feel a need to urinate.

When I was working we would schedule me for early in the week and I would return to work the following Monday --- a little tired, but okay.

Well it took me nearly four months to recover, and that was from just a simple flexible without distention. I could barely walk for the pain for weeks and weeks.

It ended up leaving me with more symptoms then before, and since then I've refused to have another.

I didn't even have a biopsy taken either, so I dread to think how I'd been if I had.

I had mine on a Wednesday afternoon & went back to work the following Monday. Within 2 days I was back to my previous level of symptoms (before the procedure).

My recovery time seems to get longer with each hydro. The first one, I was up and running within a week.. The last one, my 4th, it took me almost 6 weeks to get back to "normal"! However, that said, I would do it again tomorrow because it helps my pain level for approximately 10-11 months which anyone with IC knows is a blessing!

It's day 7 and I am still in a whole lot of pain. I decided to pick up the rest of my Urispas script and it has helped relax me a bit more. Pyridium was didnt work for me, made the burning HORRIBLE!!! Hopefully relief is on its way for me and you. Good luck with your recovery!.:angel:

It took 3 weeks after the procedure for my IC symptoms to return to what they had been.

I had mine done on Nov14th and im still recovering due to a serious infection I developed afterwards. Good luck tho:angel:
