Has anyone found significant relief or perhaps been cured by antifungal therapy and an anti-candida diet? I just started a few days ago on Nystatin liquid oral, and diflucan oral tablets. I am also eating a very low carb, nearly no sugar diet.
Anyone with experience following this route I would like to hear about your experience.

YES!!! I was very strict with the candida diet (I truly ate NO SUGAR and no cheese--that was hard, for 3 years). I used vegetable glycerin for baking to add sweetness. I bought the candida control cookbook and religiously ate only what was allowed. I was very motivated to stay on it (that's the key) because I would get really bad panic attacks which seemed to come on when I had sugar or caffeine. I only used probiotics, ThreeLac has been designed for treating Candida--check it out online. I never used meds, as I'm very sensitive to chemicals/synthetic meds, and I beat it! I eventually went back to a normal diet, but slowly, and I still don't eat much sugar, and rarely white flour products (rice, flours, pasta). It can work if you stick to the diet. But the ThreeLac product supposedly works even when you don't follow the diet really strictly. I say do as much as you can! Hope this helps!

So when you say you beat it do you mean you no longer have IC problems, but you did before the diet? Or are you referring to other problems, but you still have IC problems?
It would be very encouraging for me to know someone had success against IC with a anti-candida approach. The diet is hard but I am a fitness nut and I am used to eating different then most people already.

No, I meant I beat the problems I was having with candida. My IC didn't start until several years later. I often wonder if it would have been different if I had stayed on the diet more strictly! But, I'm back on a strict IC diet and that has helped me alot, not taking away all the pain, but relieving all the other symptoms. Other than aloe and Quercetin, I haven't started on any other treatments yet. I'm still researching my options. I don't respond well to meds, so I'm looking for natural methods. I'm also considering Elmiron instillations as those go directly into the bladder and studies show good success with those. I did the same thing with my gerd/reflux, which was really bad. I was on meds and it eventually made it worse, so I started researching and started using natural methods. Today I'm fine (except if I lay down right after I eat). So natural has always worked for me. I'm hoping for the same success with IC! Also since IC folks have problems with acid, look into the alkaline diet, it corresponds closely with IC safe foods, and some candida-safe foods. Meats are all slightly acidic, but nuts and beans aren't. I know what you mean about eating differently! I've determined that veges are really the only thing that is good for every diet! :smile tee Wonder if some of us were meant not to be carnivores!??!

I found that taking Nystatin and cutting out yeast and sugar made a big difference. It takes a lot of disciplline, but it did help me.
