Hi everyone,

How well do you all tolerate the cox-2 NSAIDS like vioxx, celebrex, etc.? Are they safe for IC?

Also, how about the basic NSAIDS like naproxen and ibuprofen?

I injured my knees and my Dr. suggested that I take vioxx or celebrex . . .

I'm sorry, I do not know, as I've not taken any at all for fear of all the additives in them. I have enough variables with the prescriptions I take.

also, I take Elmiron, and it is not recommended to take NSAIDs with Elmiron

I seem to have a problem with all of the anti-inflammatories.

I've been taking Celebrex and Flexeril for my neck since January and it hasn't bothered me.

Vioxx was taken off the market in 2004 because of its link to heart problems. I've taken Ibuprofin and Aleve without any problems.

I am one of the few who can take ibuprofen but I can't take it all the time for several reasons. One being my stomach which totally rebels at high doses of NSAIDS. I don't push it though because I never know when or if it will bother my bladder. Usually I'm fine with it but I never know when it's going to turn on me. When I have my period ibuprofen is the only thing that helps my cramps so then I have to take it.

Just a tip, I've tried taking ibuprofen with prelief and with my nexium or prilosec and it seems to help keep the bladder problems at bay. Either that or I am just lucky!
