Has anyone tried the sunflower butter? The people at the health food store told me it tastes similar to peanut butter ( I'm deathly allergic to nuts).
So was just wondering if anyone had had any problems with this.
Thanks

OMG I was wondering that myself yesterday. I am not allergic to nuts however, but am wondering in general if we can eat it. It's suppose to be pretty good.

I would be careful with any food processed in a place where they manufacture other types of nuts if you are allergic.

Thanks glassd. I bought organic, made in a peanut and tree nut free facility! :) Kinda used to looking at that before I buy!
But now I'm afraid to eat it - I hate food experiments. I hope someone else comes along and says they've tried it.

Ya I kind of figured you knew that, but I would hate to see something terrible happen so I aired on the side of caution. Yes I hope someone chimes in too because it looks pretty good. I eat almond butter, but I sure don't like it as much as peanut butter. I found the sunbutter at Kroger (Midwest grocery store) in the organic section.

I eat sunbutter all the time. It doesn't bother me at all. I don't think it tastes exactly like peanut butter but I do like it better than almond butter. I buy mine at Trader Joe's and I prefer the creamy. I'm not allergic to nuts but I haven't been brave enough to try peanut butter. Just almonds and cashews. Cashew butter was twice as expensive though!

Well after several days, no problems with the sunflower butter! (other than too much of it aggravates my IBS).

I can't speak to if it tastes exactly like peanut butter or not, but it is very very good!!

yes, me too. I used to eat a PB & J every day till I got IC. So I tried the Almond butter and blueberry preserve sandwich as a replacement, but its just not the same and I got tired of it too. But the Sunflower butter was a great new idea! I did finally try Peanut butter and had terrible pain from it :( so the sunflower is a great alternative!

It's always so great when we find something good to eat that doesn't hurt, isn't it? :) So glad you all liked it too! I LOVE the stuff!

Trader Joe's, Wegmans, Giant I think, or a "natural" food market.

I'm in the midwest, and you can buy it in the organic section of our grocery stores: Kroger, or Marsh. So if your grocery store has an organic section check there.

I really like the sunflower butter. I tried a new brand tonight with a gala apple and it was very good. I just mixed it with some splenda and put it on the apple slices. I want to try it with an all natural sweetner like erythritol next time. Yum!

The gala apples were on the might be ok list and I miss apples with peanut butter so I hope they are okay! It was a nice treat.
