hey everyone. i tried to find a list of drs people have gone to in portland, but was unsuccessful.
i was just wondering who you've all been to. the good and the bad.
urologists and gynecologists mainly. but others that have been helpful too. acupunctureists or nutritionists maybe?
i've been to dr. kim at the urology clinic and she's okay. not exactly the right fit for me though.

Hi,
I wont tell you the doctors i have seen and didnt like, but I will tell you the doctors I have had good success with that are willing to work with the patients needs. Its so important I am finding to be your own best advocate for your health.
I have seen Dr Dutta in portland which he works in the same clinic as Dr. Kim. I like him alot and I will probably being doing bladder installations with him soon. I also sawDr Bodell in Springfield. I liked her as well. She knew her stuff on IC! Dr. Dutta is really willing to work with the patients needs and seems to be willing to try different things. As is Dr. Bodell, but she is quite a drive for me.
My Obgyn is Dr Elizabeth Harmon in Salem. I will tell you that she is FABULOUS! she is an excellent obgyn, she listens, she is all about getting to the bottom of whatever health issue you may have and she is a great doctor and a great advocate for the patient. If she cant help you, she will make the phonecalls to find out which doctor can. She is wonderful!
I also did accupuncture in Beaverton. After six sessions I was feeling really good, coincedence? possibly? Sometimes I dont know if I am just feeling better or if the treatment is doing the trick. But his name is dr Joe and he is Chinese and was trained in China but also came to the usa and is an MD. So he is really aware of IC/bladder issues and tying that all in with accupuncture. If you are interested I will dig up his name and the name of his clinic in Beaverton.
Its important to find a doctor who has worked with IC patients because I have found there are some Doctors who dont really believe in IC.
Hope this helps.

Dont know where at in Portland you are, I am in Longview and we have on uro clinic here. They did not know how to help me so they sent me to Seattle to U of W. I realize that this would be quite a drive for you as it takes me 2 and a half hours but if you cant find a Dr. there, it may be worth the drive. I see Dr. Elizabeth Miller and Dr. Jane Miller both are urogynocologist. For me the 2 hr drive is so worth it because both dr's are awesome. My last appt. lasted 2 hrs. they really take the time to explain things in detail and are very on top of getting things under control. By time I was referred there I had tried so many meds (elmiron, ditropan, etc) I had 5 hydrodistensions, had done the dmso installs for 6 months all with no relief. The first thing Dr. Miller said was she could not believe all they had put me through. I only have to go maybe 3x per year unless i am having problems and i usually go with a freind (i cant handle driving all that way) and when we are done we do fun stuff in Seattle and make a day of it. And, dont know what kind of insurance you have, but they take medicaid/medicare. I am so happy that I found them. One of the first things she did for me was to get me disabled parking pass which has saved me so many times. Dont know if it would be worth the drive for you as it is kind of far but if you cant find anyone close by, it is something to consider they are wonderful! Good Luck.

Hi
So I too am going to be trying lots of "stuff" until I find out what works for my bladder. I am sorry to hear that you had to undergo so many things before finding a good doctor. So if the hydro/installs/meds did not help. What are your doctors doing now or prescribing now that is working well for you? I am curious just incase there are other options/alternatives out there that your doctors know about or are recommending that my doctors have not told me yet. I know that what works for one person may not always work for another. But I ll give anything a try. Thanks!
