Came down with this fast last week. Finally went to the doc because it was so bad my eyes felt like they were moving around and I couldn't see straight while the room spinned. He said it was an ear bug going around and gave me some penacillin for it. Is helping some but having an MRI tomorrow. The weird feeling thing is sometimes when the dizziness comes on fast it feels like my brain is vibrating and that won't stop until the dizziness has gone down some. Anyone else ever have this happen? Not sure how I'm going to lay down for the MRI without throwing up but maybe they will have a clue since they now why I'm having it done.

Just be sure to let them know of your problem and they'll handle it.
Good luck!

The MRI was not the machine I thought it would be. I was expecting the donut shaped thing that goes around in a circle. Found out that was a cat scan. MRI is the long tubie thing. I don't have a problem with small spaces but I sure did when she first started putting me. Wasn't sure I could stay in that thing but managed to zone myself out. It took almost 1 hour too. She told me in the start that she would not tell me the results which I told her I already knew but when it was done another lady got me out and said "good luck with that". Now I'm wondering if she means there was something found, nothing found so I'm stuck with the dizzeness and all or if they say that to everyone? thinking if there was something doc's would call before I go next week. Anyway, I don't think I would do it again. would have to be the open MRI one if there is a next time. Doc had given me vallium to take but I thought I wouldn't need that for the donut machine. After I foudn out what it was I thinking I should have taken it. but then couldn't eat for the blood work.
Thanks for the help Donna. :)

I had to do the MRI one time in life and I didn't last even a minute. I am so claustrophobic. I can't even stand to be in our shower for very long since it is surrounded by tile. It's not even a small shower. Just one of my panic triggers. When they were trying to see if I had any nerve damage to my back which actually happened over 10 years before, they sent me to have an MRI. They thought maybe that had caused my IC. They gave me valium and put a washcloth over my eyes, but I was still clawing to get out within a few seconds. They told me the open MRI had a pretty long waiting list.
Now that I have the interstim, I won't have to worry about that anymore!
I can't believe that my mom used to work in the department that did the MRIs. She told me most people don't have any problems at all. She couldn't believe I couldn't handle it.

Hey Mary!! I have a feeling that they say "good luck" to everyone, because I am sure they figure that if someone's having the MRI done, there must be something going on and the doc is checking everything out etc.
I know that dizzy feeling too, only mine was brought on by a medication - when they gave me Wellbutrin XL, holy cow! I was soooooo dizzy, if I moved fast I would have fallen down, ha ha. Apparently something in the "XL" version does not agree with me, as I am fine on the Wellbutrin SR - go figure. But anywho, my pharmacist recommended taking Dramamine - and I am so glad he did! It made it bearable until I could get my medication changed back to the SR version. And I also know that "buzzy" feeling, I'd get that when I'd move my eyes too fast sometimes, you're right, feels like your brain is vibrating, :)
You might want to ask your doc if something like Dramamine might help, or your pharamacist. Honestly, I would have never thought to use it for something like that, I only thought of it for rollercoasters and other rides that make me motion sick! ;)

The effects you are having sound like some of the effects of ditropan

You will want to be sure to let them know you are claustrophobic if you ever have to have another MRI.

I can't stand the MRI's either and always make sure it's the open MRI now. Last time I had one they let Tom come in and wear that lead shield and rub my ankle the whole time. I felt like a weenie but I just can't stand close, enclosed places like that either....and the noise, that banging is not so fun either.
Tracey is right, they say good luck to everyone...it's about the only thing they are allowed TO say.
I hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like possibly vertigo. Many people like myself have fibro along with IC. Vertigo is another wonderful overlapping condition. Good luck! And I mean that in positive note!:dizzy:
