I didn't know that yeast grew in so many different places!
I had felt a lump under my arm and told a nurse I knew. She said not to play with it and make an appointment. I th ought it was just a hair follicle or something similar. Well, it went away the day I had the appointment, but I went anyway thinking that the doc could look at my wound (from bladder removal - the incision opened up about 2 1/2 inches wide and deep - it is now less than the size of a dime!!!)
and let me know if it was progressing well.
I had been itching everywhere on my torso. My friends kept telling me not to scratch which was virtually impossible for me. I tried benadryl and it worked a bit. Anyway, I began to show her the wound site and she said - "You have a yeast infection!" So that's why I was itching. I had a place that was very itchy and very red - so I was putting ointment on it and covering it so that it wouldn't get irritated by clothing. I was generating MORE yeast. I got some tinactin powder to dry the stuff out as well as two doses of Diflucan. Things are much better except when I sweat - and this weather on the east coast is not cooperating. It is staying so warm!
I've had vaginial yeast infections and thrush, but I never thought it would be on my stomach and chest. Learn something every day.

Yes, yeast is horrid! I even get it in my mouth when I go on antibiotics as well as around my stoma, besides the usual places.

I forgot to add that taking acidopholus pills and eating yogurt with the live cultures of acidopholus will help to get rid of it. Alos if you are ever on antibiotics by eating yogurt and taking the pills it will help to reduce the incidence of getting the yeast.

I'm eating the yogurt. It seems that the yeast is back under the places where I put tape.
My stoma leaks, mostly mucous, but I need to keep it covered. I've tried taping in different places, but it's not working.
Any suggestions for tape?

YOu may want to try getting Cavilon No-Sting Barrier Wipes by 3M. YOu wipe this stuff on your skin wait about 30 secionds till it is dry and then put on your covering and tape. The wipes will help protect your skin and you only need to do once a day. For tape I use Durapore silk tape the 2" size it is also made by 3M. I have very sensiotve skin and that is the one that works for me, but there are MANY other brands of tape put there.

Probiotics - has literally millions of live cultures, all healthy flora and helps to get rid of overpopulating yeast everywhere!!! I struggled with systemic candida for years and probiotics (and a low sugar, low refined carbs diet) finally got rid of it for good! :smile tee Here's one that appears to be safe for IC: Primal Defense Probiotics

:grouphug: That doesn't sound like any fun!!! Yeast can grow everywhere!

Parsley, AZO yeast, garlic.....
If trying to keep it dry isn't working....cold...yeast like warm moist places so cold should help make it less likely too!
