Hi everyone...
I am trying the IC diets...and I do not drink pop hardly at all...well sometime I just have to have a coke and I have to say that coke does not bother me. I have no idea why becuase evry other type of pop does as they are carbinated and caffine except coke and ginger ale. Does anyone else have situations like that? I just find this strange.
Hugs!!!:cat:

I have a similar situation. I can handle only diet soda. Anything non-diet bothers me and my bladder can't handle more than 1 can of something caffinted in like a 2 day period.
It is very odd considering most ICer's can't handle any soda.
That is weird. I can handle soda too and I can't tolerate anything, even low acid, coffee or tea. I am very diet sensitive, however I can have a small glass of Coke in the morning since I can't have coffee. It helps to bring my low blood sugar up in the morning too.

No sodas for me! Within a half hour it feels like they burn their way through my bladder. It just isn't worth it.

Coke is very evil to most bladders, occasionally I can drink a root beer or two.

I haven't had many soft drinks for many years...even before IC. Every once in a while I have a small amount of 7-Up or Sprite if my stomach is upset or if I am away from home.

It is just so wierd..cause any other pop that I try I am alos in BIG trouble within 30 minutes or so but yesterday really craved a coke and I was fine with it...just my normal major IC pain! lol And I never have problems with Iced Tea or giner ale. The iced tea is really good cause that is my drink!

You're lucky. I have been able to manage a root beer once or twice, but that's it. A week ago or so, I was on a small jet en route to Arkansas, and I started to get nauseous (those smaller jets, they vibrate a lot!). I know from years of experience, that the only thing that will help me with this is regular coke. So I got a glass of that with ice. I probably only drank a few ounces.
By the time I got to my friend's house in Arkansas, I was dying. I needed a rescue instill immediately. Fortunately, I had brought along supplies and my friend is a nurse. :) So now my rule is: soda only in emergency situations, and keep the instill kits handy!

I truly believe aspartame was the #1 reason I got into this mess. Still trying hard to stay away from diet coke. I hear alot of women can tolerate rootbeer.:cat:

I really don't understand this disease. I am so food sensitive that drinking a soda would keep me locked in the toilet. Yet others can drink COKE.
I have to wonder if what is currently called IC is really two different diseases.

I drink rootbeer without any problem as well as gingerale. I have the occasional Pepsi as well. I am not a big soda drinker, never was. The only food trigger that I can absolutely count on that I will flare is citrus. As long as I am not flaring, just about any food is okay for me.
I did stick to the IC diet for quite some time, and gradually added foods to it. My biggest trigger is stress and hormones.

I am lucky when I want a treat - I can tolerate A&W root beer...they don't have caffeine or additives like some others...sometimes a little gingerale...

I can drink Rootbeer once in a while. I found this strange though and then found out that people who have braces are aloud to drink rootbeer but not aloud or not suppose to drink other sodas. Rootbeer does not contain some kind of acid that most of the other sodas do. Guess I should do more research..lol

I can drink soda and not have any problems (knock on wood), as long as I drink a lot of water after to dilute the soda in my bladder.

Sometimes I can handle a little of caffeine free coke or pepsi, otherwise I stick with water. I can handle sodas once a week, more often then that, it's a bladder issue.
