i am sorry i haven't been on the board for a while. I really need some help. I am scared. i went to the er last saturday because of pain, in the urthra opening, and back pain. They did a CT scan and said it was serveral little kidney stones. They send me home with relxan? and mortrin 600 gm every six hours, i went to health services and they gave me something with codine, which helps but makes me soo tired. Today i feel so horriable. My urthra opening is hurting so bad. I too the mortan and pydrium to relief it, but i am so tired of it. I dont know what to do. I have been flashing my system out a lot. I have been peeing or pushing ot pee trying to get some relief under there. I go to school and have to commute an hour away. I dont know if i can handle this. Any suggestions? could it be a flare from teh mortrin? my back still hurts just not as much as last saturday. i wouldn't mind missing two days of school, and doctors helping me, so i wouldn't have to go to the restroom a million times an hour.

I hope all is well,

Kiyoka

What is happening about these stones? Are they going to do lithotripsy for them (breaking them up with sound waves), or expecting you to just pass them? Have you had any advice on how to prevent them from forming?

The urethral pain could be because you are passing a stone. Perhaps you could ring your urologist's secretary & ask for an urgent appointment as you are in so much pain.

(I use an ice block, very well wrapped in thick towels, for urethral pain. It's no good when you're out and about tho'!)

Motrin isn't usually a good choice for an ICer. And straining is not good either. It might help if you push liquids and instead of straining, take a book to the bathroom with you. I hope you feel better soon.

Push liquids!! Kidney stones are a miserable thing to deal with (been there, done that, and am currently dealing with one). If you're not feeling better within the next day or so, by all means, ring your DR and explain how you're feeling.
The good news is that small stones are usually passed w/o Dr intervention. Larger stones can be broken up via lithotripsy, or the Dr can go into the ureter via catheter and retrieve the stones.
Hopefully you'll pass them very soon w/o too much trouble. It might be a good idea to strain your urine to a)-see if you've passed them and b)--to be able to take the stone to your Dr so it can be sent out for identification (what type of stone).

Wishing you better days ahead...

I agree with the others. Drink water and walk around a lot. If the stones are too big to push then they can do the lipthotripsy to break them up. I had that done before and the last time I decided to try and pass it on my own. It took me 2 months!!! I will NEVER do that again....too painful!!! If the pain is getting worse please call your doctor. Let us know how you are doing. Sorry you are hurting.
