View Full Version : Meal ideas???
I posted this here because I didnt know where else to post it.
I was wondering if i could get some ideas on "safe" meals. I have read the IC patient hand book, but what my problem is , is coming up with new ideas for cooking meals. I feel so limited sometimes, becuase one month I can have something...the next...its bothering my bladder. my bladder is so unpredictable. so I want to come up with some meals that I KNOW are safe. my worst culprits are "some" tomato products spicy foods. the two main things I have always cooked with. I used to LOVE to cook and IC has totally taken that away from. I dread cooking now because I never know what to make. I'm so tired of the same ol' things all the time. Sooo....If anyone would like to share their recipes and ideas that would be awesome. maybe I can actually enjoy cooking for my family again.
P.S.- I HATE fish LOL!
Thank You so much,
I just ordered and received the IC Cookbook "A Taste of the Good Life". I love it. It has so many receipes and pointers.

This online cookbook is an excellent resource, with lots of simple and IC-safe meals to try.
I cook from scratch almost every day, and I delight in finding new, interesting recipes that are also IC-friendly. I'd be happy to share some of my favorite recipes with you if you like.

Here are a few things that I can eat-
Cream sauce on pasta made with heavy cream, cream cheese, butter, salt, pepper, and garlic to taste. (I just eyeball the ingredients. I usually add broccoli, mushrooms, chicken or shrimp.
Veggie and shrimp wraps. Sautee shrimp, garlic, and onion (if you can tolerate it) In another pan sautess egg plant in olive oil. When cooked serve on a tortilla spread with cream cheese or cottage cheese. Good served warm or cold.
Meatloaf never bothers me. I use ground beef and pork. Add sauted onion and garlic. Italian seasoning and bread crumbs. (read ingredients of the bread crumbs carefully some of the flavored ones have vinegar) Add a couple eggs and stick the loaf in the oven.
Homemade pizza. I am ok with store bought packaged dough. Then I use a pesto sauce as the base. Topic with grilled assorted veggies such as zuchinni, eggplant, mushrooms, green bell peppers, etc.
If you have a slow cooker, A can of Amy's organic mushroom soup, strips of chicken breasts, onions, carrots, broccoli, potatoes. Put it all in the slow cooker on low for about 6 hours. Serve over white or brown rice or eat as a soup.
I have recently discovered that I can have turmeric, something I had been avoiding for about 5 years. I heat a can of coconut milk and add turmeric and salt to taste. I put the sauce over stir fried veggies and shrimp served with rice. I love it.
If you are missing sandwich spreads experiment by blending cottage cheese with a small amount of milk and add some fresh herbs or roasted garlic.
Homemade clam chowder- heavy cream, potatoes, cooked onions, and snow's minced clams. Salt and Pepper to taste.
My advice is to stay away from packaged foods and try to use fresh ingredients. It also took me a long time to realize that tap water really bothers me. Once I got a water filter things really improved. Good Luck-Tracy from Japan.
