Lupus and IC

I have Lupus along with IC and have just been put on prednisone for the Lupus. So far I have taken one dose and it killed my bladder.I wonder if anyone else takes prednisone and if there is a particular brand that is more IC friendly. Any help you can give me would be extremely helpful if not lifesaving. A lot of medications seem to flare up my bladder but the IC diet works wonders for me. Taking this drug is imperative.

That's a tough one. I think you should call your doctor to see if there are any other medications that would help.

On the occasions when I have taken steroids for an allergic reaction, it actually improved my IC symptoms.

Hi Maryellen,

My mom has both IC and lupus and has been on prednisone on and off for a long time. I think it does affect her IC, but as you said, there's not much of a choice in taking it :(
