A few weeks ago or so I wrote that my boss might have IC but her doctor said no that its just an overactive bladder; so he gave her a prescription for an OA med. That really didn't help her and she has gone back to her doctor a few times in severe pain. She finally got into a Urologist recently armed with information on IC (thanks to me) and they talked apparently, but he said that he wasn't really ready to dx her with IC, but he gave her some med. (I don't know what and changed her OAB med to something else and suggested that she uses the diet; . which I think she has as she said to me and someone the other day- "boy I can't eat anything -- can I?? How do you do it Mary?? I told her that I started with what I can and worked myself up from there. Told her though that I'm not as sensitive as most are; but of course I do have to watch what I eat and drink). Anyway, she seems to be doing better, she misses her coffee of course, like we all do. -- Told her that after awhile that she will be able to have a cup now and then. We had snacks at work the other day, and she was really good, when they offered her some she said no, I can't because of this special diet that I'm on. I was impressed - don't know when she goes back to the doctor - I think in a few weeks. He also told her to get her stress under control - as stress plays a major factor in this. (so to me, I think he thinks that this is what she has but wants to see if this helps first before doing anything else- I think --does that make any sense??)
I told her if she does have this, I will help her out wherever I can.

Usually doctors will want to rule out other possibilities before making an IC diagnosis.
She's fortunate to have you to help her through this.
Warm Hugs,

Your boss really is fortunate to have you there! Honestly, what are the odds, lol. Having someone who's dealing with the same things can be soooooo helpful and reassuring! ;)

Wow Mary,
That would be strange if your boss had IC. I have yet to meet another IC patient so to work with one would be strange. She really is lucky to have you around if she does infact have IC.

If my boss does have IC, this would be the 3rd person that I have known who works in this building -- One works right now the hall from me-- she is about my age; we got to talking last year about our treatments and found out that she has the interstim in and have had no problems with it. the other person, she has retired and I have since lost contact with her.

It might be nice to have a boss that understands your pain and IC. Not that I would wish this on anyone.

cAROL: THAT is what I told my boss, that I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy!! Even before she started having problems she has been very understanding about me from the get go- she has only been my supervisor for about 4 months. But I have worked with her for almost 2 years; she knows my work record. Knows that I'm usually here except for doctors appointments. When she thinks that I don't feel well, she always ask if I want to go home and when I tell her no that I'm ok she just makes sure that I take it easy.
