I a m a little confused about having a seasonal allergy and IC flaring up. Maybe this is what I have. I was just diagnosed a week ago today. I have been taking elmiron 100mg x 3 and doing the IC diet and i have almost no pain or frequency what so ever already. I am confused on how i got better so fast and it takes everyone else it seems like much longer. Could this be an allergy thing for me as well. How do I know? Anyone have any insight on this? I have been doing lots of reading and it seems that a week is a little fast to have results on elmiron. Maybe I'm just still confused on this IC thing because there sre so many what and if's that go along with it.

It could be the diet helping you out quite a bit ;) Do you take any allergy meds?? If you do those could potentially help too, etc. considering one of the big IC meds is hydroxyzine (Atarax/Vistaril), which is an antihistamine (it also has some other properties that make it useful for IC). :) I am very glad to hear you are feeling good!!!!

I have at times noticed an increase in symptoms when my allergies are very bad...that said with diagnosises happening earlier there are some patients that are getting a lot better a lot faster. Also...diet a lone can make a huge a difference for a lot people.
Before you I have heard of a few more recent newly diagnosed patients say they felt they were getting results from Elmiron as early as 2 weeks. This is very unusual and it may be a combination of things since it does take some real time for Elmiron to build up and your body to heal....but if any dammage to the bladder is caught fast diet can make a huge difference.

You will find that some of the big treatments are antihistamines.

If I were you I would continue what your doing since it sounds like you have a good chance of being symptom free since often the hardest part of getting better with IC is finding a treatment that works for you. :grouphug:
